I signed. It's horrible they kill dogs and cats for fur and then try to pass it off as rabbit fur. Killing rabbits is horrible too.

wait.... i signed it... but i just realized something.
dont shoot me for saying this, but, with all the cats and dogs being killed in shelters adn all these ppl complaining about all the cats and dogs ( what cats adn dogs? they arent even near 6 billion like humans are), i just thought that instead of killing them in shelters, and leaving their fur to go to waste, why dont they use the pet's fur, INSTEAD of exploiting natural forests and hunting down real pure animals such as tigers, wolves, beavers, etc?? maybe if they used the fur of already dead cats/dogs, they wouldnt need to harm almost extinct species and torture them like that when their population is very low to begin with??

http://www.greenjournal.com/articles.asp?article_key=432 sez:
Cats have become America's leading predator. The Census reported 60 million house cats, more than half of them allowed to roam. At least 40 million more - no one knows how many - are feral, wild, fierce, shunning humans, subsisting on birds and small mammals. How many must one feral cat kill to stay alive? Multiply by 40 million.

o I don't doubt that some fur from euthed shelter animals does get used for various purposes, maybe including the 'hydrolyzed protein' in many shampoos/conditioners. But if this were done openly for apparel, etc, think about the consequences. Fur from a euthed shelter animal would be indistinguishable from that of one stolen from a home. There's already a very real problem of companion animals being snatched for sale to medical experimenters -- do you think that the same wouldn't happen for fur?
o I suspect that most of the people who think that tiger, etc. fur is desirable would keep on enabling their predation. It's not that they want *fur* - they explicitly want the pelt of that kind of animal, and freely-available dog/cat fur would only spur more people to differentiate themselves by wearing exotic furs.
