For whatever reason...the past week or so I've seemed so completely unmotivated to do anything.
::le sigh::
I was sick about two weeks ago with some sort of weird stomach/all-over body ache and so I pretty much gave up that week and didn't do anything and didn't really make attempts to watch what I ate (when I could eat).
Since then I've just been...kuplut. And I don't particularly know why. I've decided to run two different race-type things...the first to qualify to start sooner in the second...and so that means that maybe I should get on the ball and train more diligently but...somedays it's just so hard.
And I've not done an A.M. run in over a week. So what gives? How do I get out of this slump and why am I in it in the first place? Anyone have any ideas/advice on the matter? I've done really good about ABSOLUTELY MAKING myself this week, but even when I do it's...not up to par in my opinion. Gah!
Now THIS is a call to all hamsters (or anyone who can help!) :help:
:nigel: No cheers for this.

Well I know that once in awhile I need a break. Usually a couple of weeks off will help. Either that or maybe vary your workout a bit. Try something new. If you have been running, maybe try cycling or hiking or swimming or something. Usually that helps as well. :)

I thought that would be cool/fun to do other things...I don't have enough money for a bike right now (though I want one sooo badly!!)...and I can't afford a membership to a health club with a pool (I don't know how to swim anyway).
I hike on weekends when I can get up in the mountains, but during the week the drive is sort of a hassle (traffic, gas prices, etc.).
...sounds like I'm making excuses but I do what I can do for the time being...blah. Thanks for the tips though :)
:nigel: Cheers!

You were sick, so maybe your body is still recuperating even though you don't feel as icky anymore. My two cents would be to keep up your frequency of workouts but reduce the intensity until you have your energy back. Don't get out of the habit of being active but give your body somewhat of a break. Just my .02. :)

I just started running in January and ran my first 10K on Sunday! yay!
But there were plenty of times when running was the last thing in the world I felt like doing but afterwards every single time I was so proud of my accomplishment and felt great physically and mentally. So forcing myself to exercise because I knew in the end I would get the reward of feeling proud of myself really worked.
I have a workout partner too and we spend lots of time bragging to each other about what we have done. (bragging in a slighty competitive but supporting way). And I can't let her get too far ahead of me so I had to just keep running and training.
Your posts are so sweet, I hope you work this out soon Psuedo_Vegan.
Cheers to you! :nigel:

I get in these slumps, too. I think it's good to take a break for a week or two every once in a while, though. It seems like when I do get back into my routine that I feel more energized.
If nothing else, maybe bribe yourself. For example, give yourself five bucks every time you exercise for a certain period of time to spend on whatever you want. :)

Lately, I literally feel like crap when I don't run. It seems to help with everything.
I just ran 2.5 miles and I feel great.

I feel ya. I was sidelined a month ago with a spinal column surgery (long story.) I just made it back into the gym yesterday... it was hard because I definitely lost some muscle and endurance, but, it's easy to gain back if you just go back to your original routine. I took it a little easier than usual yesterday to get my body used to it, but, when I was finished I felt great! Just keep plugging away... you'll get back on track.
