I just bought this shampoo and there was a little thing on it that said "No animal testing or animal ingredients" but there is cetyl alcohol in it. I read somewhere that cetyl alcohol is a dolphin/whale derivitive, so whats the deal?

It can be from animal sources, but isn't always. I'm surprised it doesn't say from veg sources in parenthesis, but I'm sure its fine. It seems like it would be a lot easier and cheaper to get from a coconut than from a sperm whale or a dolphin. :)

According to this source, it could be from palm or coconut oils:

It isn't very good for your hair, however.
