Does anyone else have this problem?
When I consume chocolate/cocoa products, coffee or tea, I get these symptoms:
- mild - severe anxiety attacks
- the jitters
- insomnia
- hyperactivity
- hypoglycemia (which I have anyway, but is triggered by caffiene)

Yep, and I get rebound migraines. I drink caffeinne once in a while, but when I do I have to be careful not to go overboard. 1/3 of a coke is a lot for me. Eating some chocolate is plenty.

Not only that, but if I drink too much, I will be looking (desperately) for a bathroom because it has a very strong laxative effect on me (and gives me a tum ache)

When I was in college, I used to drink multiple "big gulp" (huge drinks for 7-11 or some place like that) cokes a day. I think it really messed my system up and sensitized me to it.

Yes. I decided to quit consuming coffee when the anxiety attacks, insomnia (and following depression) got so bad I felt like jumping off the roof. It was pretty hard though, because I've always loved coffee for the taste, not for the effects of the caffeine. One cup never caused any of the mentioned things, but because it tasted so good I'd usually have another cup, and another and so on and would realise that I had way too many when it was already too late (as in bad, bad anxiety attack) O.o

These are very common side-effects for caffeine. Caffeine is actually pretty nasty in comparison to other simulants (in terms of its short-term side-effect profile).
You just seem to be sensitive to small amounts.

I have a co-worker who will drink five Jolt sodas in one shift. Me, I have one regular soda and I'm good. Though I love my caffeinated tea!

I don't have those problems, but I can't have caffeine due to a bladder condition. It stinks. Especially when I need to write term papers.
