i love my toothpaste because not only is it cheap and cheerful it is easy to get (and this is canberra, australia). i don't need a health food store or an online shop, all i need is woolies (woolworths). can you believe, woolies have a homebrand (herbal) toothpaste (that they produce in conjunction with naytura) that actually specifies loud and clear that it has no animal derived ingredients or has been tested on animals. with the woolies logo on it too. who would have thought. the toothpaste is very cheap (cheaper than any of the other varieties), fluoride free and sodium lauryl sulphate free.

here's my problem: i went to the dentist today who claims my teeth are in great shape and my only problem is brushing them too vigorously. however, when i informed him that my toothpaste is fluoride free, he nearly had an epileptic fit and said i MUST use a fluoride toothpaste (especially as i am brushing the enamel off my teeth) and proceeded to give me a very expensive fluoride treatment.

my teeth are important to me and i like to listen to advice, so.... can anyone suggest some nice cheap cheerful vegan toothpastes that HAVE fluoride?

Toms of Maine, if you can get it there (not all varieties have fluoride)

Tom's of Maine is good for the fluoride ones, just be careful of those without fluoride as they have propolis. They also contain sodium lauryl sulphate (at least some of them).

Personally I use Nature's Gate toothpaste.

One question though, is there fluoride in your tap water? If you do and you drink it then that should be providing you with plenty of fluoride.

Don't have suggestions about a good vegan fluoride toothpaste.. just make sure not to swallow any of the toothpaste if using fluoride :) since although it's good for preventing cavities in my experience, I've read/heard countless times it's not good if digested... ("not good" meaning harmful)
