So I decided that I need to replace my existing shoes and buy some dress shoes, which I haven't needed for a while.

For walking shoes I'll go to new balance as always and for sandals I was thinking birks, like these (http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/224379/c/2180.html)

I also need a pair each of black and brown dress shoes. I'm going to be pretty flexible with style with two caveats, they must be appropriate for business dress and they should also work with business casual. My main criteria, in order will be 1. appearance 2. comfort 3. wear. I don't care about the price because I don't think I've seen any non leather dress shoes out of my price range.

I think I'm aware of what is available but the pictures suck online, returning would be a hassle if I don't like how they look and impossible if they fall apart after a year so I'm hoping to get some first hand opinions.

The last pair of shoes I need is a pair of brown oxfords for strictly casual use. My criteria here would be 1. comfort 2. appearance 3. price.

I'm hoping to learn from the experiences of someone who has been through this before.

The Justin style shoe I bought at Mooshoes.com was fairly inexpensive and is very supple and comfortable. They look like a totally modern style and no one has the first clue that they're vegan. I bought them online and they fit perfectly. They're also good about responding to e-mail inquiries and letting you know if a size runs small or large.

As for the sandals, Birks are passe, go with Tevas instead. http://www.teva.com/

Well, I did want non leather, which TEVA seems to have very few of that aren't weird looking.

They say they run large, did you buy your size or a half size smaller?

Crap. I just took the shoes off so I could check, but the size is not listed anywhere. I did notice that they're not wearing all that well. The coating on the inside is flaking off, and the heels are more worn than I expected. Might be my gait, though. I think I'm scuffing my heels along when I walk.

As for the size, I'm an 11-11.5, so I probably ordered an 11. I know the fit pretty well. Though I do have narrow feet, so I have to lace the shoes up pretty tight.

TEVAs, and all other shoes made in Chinese sweatshops, are passe. At least Birks are made in Germany under good working conditions (and their nonleather versions are quite durable, actually).

I got birks, as for black dress I fell in love with the New York by Daya but nobody has it in a 9 so I got another pair and I'll buy the New York when it is back in stock.
