Does anyone have a product they'd recommend for "volumizing" hair. I've been going through various products to no avail. I'm not looking for a Farrah Fawcett 'do, but I'd like to get rid of what my coworker politely calls "flat, white-girl hair" I start off pretty well out of the shower in the morning, but by mid-day, it's droopy city.
Shaving my head would make things so much easier.

Blow dry the roots upside down. Hairspray your hair upside down. Also, get yourself a clarifying shampoo and use it once a week to get the buildup off.

I second what Ms. RuthieB said. Other than that, do you want my hair? Because most of the time I have this whole hispanic afro thing going on and I'd love to have...what did your co-workers call it? "Flat, white-girl hair" Yes I'd love to have that.
What do you use on your hair now?

Do you have fine hair? I've had pretty good luck with Aveda's stuff. Before I moved here (it's way too expensive here), I used their rosemary mint shampoo & conditioner, then their phomollient mousse (it's light, so as to not weigh down hair) but it contains honey so that might be out for you. I also use their fixative - it's a volumizing lightweight gel. It's not thick like gel; it has more of a liquid consistency. Then blowdry hair with a rollerbrush. Blow air at the roots in the opposite direction to which it will lay down. Then brush, and hairspray lightly at the roots.
I have fine, limp hair, and this helps put volume in it. I've noticed, though, that if I brush my hair after styling/blowdrying, it goes limp. So brush first, put in products, style, and spray.

Back in my barbering days, I used this stuff (http://www.paulmitchell.com/site/subpage.asp?section=2,8,28,57) a few times and liked it fairly well. Couldn't find a list of ingredients, so I'm not sure about its vegan-ness.
