I have been doing eat to live for a while as my diet but it is getting a little monotonous. I need some new ideas. What are everybody's favorite diets? I have no clue what to eat to lose weight. I keep losing and gaining the same 2 lbs. I cannot seem to break through my plateau even with more exercise. Help!

Diets don't work.
You need to eat a healthy balanced diet coupled with sufficient exercise. And I mean proper, regular, calorie burning exercise.

I do Eat to Live also, and it does take some time to make it a lifestyle rather than a diet. It's good to find veggie recipes you like. There are some really great ones out there if you have time/resources to cook a little. One I like is Caponata (check out Rachel Rae's 30 minute dinner show on foodnetwork.com, the recipe is there). Heavy on the vegetables, and if you serve it over brown rice instead of the cheese polenta (even if cheese polenta IS to die for!),it's Fuhrman-friendly.
But Mr. Falafel's right - it can't be a "diet", it has to be about changing the way you eat. I've lost over 100 lbs now by doing this and exercising. I cut out sweets for the most part (they are a treat, now, as they're meant to be) and animal products, and keep the grains to 2-3 servings a day. Do you exercise? I can NOT seem to lose weight without it.

Wow! Can I pm you sometime and ask you some questions?

I have the same problem, so far i have been battling with the same couple pounds and i cannot seem to lose any weight...i eat really healthy and i excersise, so i dont know what else to do.....the only thing i can suggest is to cut back on portion size and caloric intake.....(i have trouble with both :o). eat lots of fruit and veggies, and make sure you eat the biggest meal of the day in the morning...doing this will help cut cravings throughout the day, speed up your metabolism, and give you energy. eat your smallest meal at dinner time because the less you eat at night, the less youll have to burn off...good luck!!!

I'll offer a few suggestions.
Make a sandwich on sprouted grain bread (which somehow seems to fill up the tummy more), with a mock-meat salad of TVP, soy-mayo, celery, pickles, spices, and top with lettuce, tomato and whatever vegetable fixins you like. -The protein and fiber in this sandwich will keep you full and groovin throughout the afternoon, without needing to reach for the chips or a sugar fix.
For snacks: Red bell pepper slices, carrots, and celery dipped in hummus or baba ghanouge. Grapes and other fresh fruit.
Jazz up a vegetable stir-fry with tempeh, served over brown rice.
Put some ratatioulle over that baked (or nuked) non-fat polenta.
Try a bowl of quinoa in the morning in place of oatmeal - topped with fresh fruit, or butternut squash.

hey,
Im wanting to go on a diet. I'm not extremely overweight or anything but i feel quite unconfident in myself. I have low self esteem and would really like to loose a bit of weight and become fitter and healthier. I am planning on eating healthier e.g. ore fruit and veg and becomming more pysically active lol. I hope it works. The only prob is that i am kinda bad at sticking to healthy eating as i find eating fruit and veg boring. Eating chocolate is far more tastier lol.
Anywayz if any of u are also planning on dieting i could do with some friends to loose weight with me and keep me motivated
luv lou
