Does anyone have a vacuum sealer?

I was thinking about this today... I am going to be living alone next year, and last time I was living with my non-vegetable eating bf, fresh fruits and vegetables would just go bad because I couldn't eat them fast enough. Of course living back home again I've gotten spoiled because we eat TONS of fresh fruits and veggies so rarely does anything go bad... so I wondered, would a vacuum sealer solve part of this problem? Does produce REALLY stay fresher longer if you suck the air out? I think it might be a worth while investment if it meant I wasn't throwing rotten veggies and fruits out all the time. Anyone have one?

We used to have one, but we used it mainly for dry goods (pasta, beans, coffee, etc). I don't know how well it'd work on leafy veggies but it would definitely work on the harder ones that wouldn't be crushed by all that VACUUM POWER!! :p

We liked ours, but we didn't use it that much to be honest. It was just easier to toss stuff in a ziploc instead.

I have one, it works well enough. I got it as a gift. Frankly, the novelty has worn off and I rarely use it. I should make more of an effort. Would I spend my own money to buy one? Probably not, unless you are certain you will keep it out where you can see it and use it faithfully.

My comment is completely off topic. Rabid_child, until just now, I always just thought you were licking a balloon in your picture. I just realized it's a person's head. I'm a :dunce:

Ha! I just had a good look too. I never really noticed it was a person!
