My love affair with hummus began shortly after going vegan, when I discovered that it made an excellent spread for bagels, and allowed me to enjoy them just as much as I had back in the old bagel and cream cheese days. Efforts at making my own hummus at home were at best failures, and at worst...not worth discussing, so I began buying Athenos brand hummus.

It was good, especially the Roasted Red Pepper variety. I would have called it the best prepackaged hummus on the market at the time.

I had the privilege of attending a vegan Thanksgiving party at Missleigh's house last year, and as an appetizer, she had an amazing hummus that just blew the Athenos stuff out of the water. I have been searching for it in vain, but by pure luck I came across it at Kroger tonight. It's a Kroger I don't often shop at, but I'm glad I did tonight.

I am now reveling in the smoothest, creamiest, most amazing hummus on the planet, manufactured by Sabra. It is vegan, kosher, and thanks to its deliciousness, I'm about to finish a box of reduced fat Triscuit crackers. :o

I used to make my own, and enjoyed it, but didn't know what all the fuss over hummus was. I tried a couple at the store, and they weren't as good as my homemade kind.

But still couldnt' figure out the fuss.

Last month, we moved into a new area and there's a little fruit & veg market around the corner. the owners are mediterranean, and they sell homemade hummus, baba ganouj, and tabboli. OMG. so... good.

NOW i understand the fuss over hummus.

yay for magic hummus :D
