Um... Assuming you weren't already, can you download mIRC? The one on-site version should probably only be used as a last resort.

I am not really sure why it kicked a few people, but it may be a good idea to register at the URL's mentioned by ObsidianZebra so that the X services can recognize you and authenticate you.

yeah but i just went into the java chat room (the one through the site where applet loads), not through the IRC one though. i didn't download that one yet .... (MIRC)

But that's the point. I did download mirc. I did everything. I was in a chat room with a load of nuts. An indian called King got me on another little icon. I left, I got into a chat room called Veggieboards. I was TOTALLY alone. In an alternate universe.
I registered myself all over the place I have password 2Xn51av which came to me by email, but won't work and now the link in the email is severed. I got desperate- I did the java thing.
I did the things Robert and oz said, and I ended up creating a whole new CHANNEL called spud, with it's own password u7eb75x
I was 1 hour 45 minutes and VERY frustrated. I have failed my aptitude test to become a computer programmer obviously. Not only that, I still don't know how to get things onto floppy discs and I've had this damn computer two years now. Or three. I'm being driven insane by technology.

Uh... I'm not at home and I don't know enough about it to walk you through it from here. So were you ever in the room with everyone? If you have mIRC you have to select WorldIRC from the list of servers and then the channel name is #veggieboards.
