Hi all,

I recently injured my neck doing pilates. I guess I was over doing it and not doing them correctly. I am somewhat recovered and tried to modify my pilates routine and baby my neck as to not strain it but it's not working and I keep hurting myself. I'm afraid to do my old workout now as I know I will reinjure myself. Before, my neck hurt so badly and was so stiff I couldn't move it. I had to move my whole body around to turn my head like frankenstein.

I need some suggestions for a good middle body work out that does not involve moving my head up from the floor. Any help?

I want one of those pilates machines but have no room for it in my apartment :(

I'm sorry, I guess this should go in the physical fitness forum. Could somebody move it for me please? I don't know how to report my post to a mod. Thanks!

Leg lifts and butterfly kicks, but I think they focus on lower abs. To leg lift you lie straight on the floor with your toes pointed and lift your extended legs up about 35 degrees. Butterfly kicks are the same but alternating legs.

Sorry about your neck. :(

Lie on the floor (or a bench is better) and put your legs straight up in the air. Your body should be shaped like an L. Then lift your lower back off the floor without swinging your legs over your head or lifting your neck. This is a GREAT exercise for the lower abs. :)

ask your instructor. if you don't have one, find one. that person will be able to help you with the injury and what not.
