Is glycerin ALWAYS made with animal byproducts?

I have done some research and found that it comes from the soap making industry, but I am unclear of it's contents.

Glycerin can be made of animal byproducts or vegetable fats and if the package doesn`t state "vegetable glycerin", the source of it has to be asked from the producer..

Thanks for this thread and the answers. I actually thought it was from a vegetable source too. (keep forgetting to look into it)

That's what I thought. If it doesn't state clearly vegetable, I'm just going to have to assume that it is an animal byproduct. Thanks for the input.
