Wow this stuff is amazing! I am so happy to have discovered this site and all the people on it! The ideas, and knowledge...this stuff is so yummy and I'm thrilled to be eating it :-) I miss so many things, and it's hard to stay on top of whats new for vegans etc, so when I heard about this cream cheese on a post here I ran out to find it. Eating it on some rice crackers with a sweet red pepper spread on top- divine! I bought the imitation sour cream too so thats for tomorrow nights quesadillas- can't wait :hamster:

yeah, Tofutti hit the nail on the head with those two (sour cream and cream cheese). Whole Foods market even carries an herb-flavored Better Than Cream Cheese that is heavenly on crackers!

But my nutrition-fanatic side can't help but jump in and say, don't overindulge in either of those, because delicious as they are, they are laden with hydrogenated oils!

okay, there, I said it.

Enjoy one of the few less-than-healthy vegan indulgences. :lick:

Yes I noticed the oils...but now you say NEW AND IMPROVED??? Oh no...I better check it out :-) I actually bought the herb one by accident, I thought it was plain- no worries as it goes perfect with the red pepper sauce on top, but yeah I'm excited.

Whole Foods doesn't carry anything with hydrogenated oils (AFAIK), I thought that was their "thing." Are you sure it's not the new kind? My WFs doesn't carry it, so I have to get it at Trader Joe's. I tried the new kind and really didn't like it, it tasted (and felt) like caulk to me. Maybe it's better now.

my whole foods definatly carries items with hydrogenated oils but the better then cream cheese they sell is free of them!! i love this stuff! i seriously like it on anything! today bagels, wheat chips, my new fav which may gross some people out it putting it on ezekiel bread with strawberry or blueberry jam. i duno "cream cheese" and jam sounded yuck together but tasted yum!

Is the version of it without the hydrogenated oils good for you? Is it high in calories? I'm just wondering because I'd like to expand my dipping options from hummus. :)

1 oz (i HATE when serving sizes are in ounces) is 80 calories. i duno how much an ounce is of tofutti cream cheese, but i know my hummus is 35 calories for 2 tablespoons, so i duno how that compares, but obviously a "cream cheese" would have more calories then hummus. also, no ho doesnt mean its necesarily good for you, but its much better for you then if it had the ho. that stuff is baaaaad

Cream cheese and Jam is to die for! I've been doing it for years. The combination is amazing. I truthfully don't know which Tofutti I bought now that I went back and looked at container. I can't find any nutritional info. There is a sticker on the bottom to say what local company imported it to canada- maybe it's under there? I'm still going to eat this whole tub!

i always take a small carrot, a lil bit of bell pepper, and some chives, throw em in the mini food processor until really fine...add that to the cream cheese with a lil seasoning and have veggie cream cheese. WF here only sells the non hydronated kind.

Thank you. :) I wasn't sure if I was crazy and just made that up or not.

I always eat tofutti cream cheese on blueberry bagels. I used to put it on plain bagels and then put strawberry jam on top. That's soooo good. I guess I don't really do it anymore because it's a lot of food and almost more of a dessert, heh.

On my last trip to the HFS I saw a Rice based sour cream. Can't remember the brand. Has anyone tried this?

*Nothing* Tofutti makes is "good for you" Sorry. And yes- it is high in fat calories.
