My 8 month old Kitten Ziggy, who I love more than lifew itself I have just been told has to have her right eye taken out. She was in a fight with a tom cat and he scratched her eye. He cornea became ulcerated and they stiched it to protect her eye while it was healing. The infection got so out of hand, they cant do anything, and shes in the vets now getting her eye removed.
It breaks my heart to have to leave her there because she is so scared of being there at the animal surgery. Shes shaking the whole time, and crying. Shes such an affectionate little kitten, and such a gorgeous cat. I feel so awful, I cant concentrate on my exams at all. My parents think im getting too worked up abouta cat, who according to them, it wont make a difference to her having one eye..shes a living thing..the poor kitten ..i feel so upset. Its times like these i realise how much i love her, id die if anything happened to her..i cant wait to collect her tomorrow, she hates being there.

Wow, that really sucks. I'd be upset if something like that happened to my dog. Don't worry about being distracted from your studying. This is part of the human condition. Just remember you'll get her back tomorrow and in a few days it won't feel as bad.

I'm so sorry about your cat! My dog tore a nail off a couple of months ago and had to have "surgery". Then, when I got her, she thought this strange man standing in line next to me was my boyfriend (she was so drugged up) and she whined and whined and cried for him, but the jerk just backed up and refused to pet her! (I suppose it's because she's an "evil" pit bull)
The worst is when they cry and shake like that! It breaks your heart! But don't worry, its all for the best and he will probably be sleeping the majority of the time he is there from the drugs. I don't think he will have any problems with one less eye. Cats are rather good at not letting things bother them.

I'm sorry to hear about your Ziggy! It would break my heart if one of my boo diddles were hurt like that - don't let anyone's lack of understanding of your love for your cat get to you. I hope all goes well with her recovery.

Poor Kitty. She'll do just fine with one eye. Cats are very resilliant. I'd be very careful not to let her outside though as she will lose some peripheral vision and it may be dangerous.

Yeah, cats are extremely resilient creatures.
I adopted a cat that had been shot intentionally with a rifle. Her front leg was so shattered, the only option was to amputate it. After a complete amputation, within a few weeks that cat was acting like nothing- jumping, running around, getting into high places that perfectly healthy 4 legged cats would have trouble getting to. Tothink someone came so close to putting her down bc they specifically stated that they did "not want a less than perfect cat." I think it was another one of those "wah your hand" situations where only the poor animal suffers. In her case, she lucked out.
I've assisited with eye removals, and the cats end up fine. I can totally understand how you would be worried. Wouldn't anyone? :) She's in good hands, and when she comes home she will have an overabundance of love to soak up.
I toowoudl keep her inside from now on. It's not worth the risk all around. She lucked out considering anythign else that could have happened.
Keep up updated on her progress!
