I heard on my local evening news last night that the Washington State Coalition for the Homeless is being drastically cut.

Yep...when the country is in a deficit, take the money from the most needy people in it.

Sure, and cut graduate programs and research funding across the board, while INCREASING military funding 4.8%, not including the cost to run the wars/"operations" in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hmmm...

If anything the needy are going to face more challenges. Simple reason costs of oil etc., are goingup increasing the prices of everything, on the other hand aid etc., is expected to drop. In the longer run learning to accept it gives peace. This is just my personal opinion.

I don't understand how Bush sleeps at night. I didn't particularly care for Clinton when he was in office, but he left the oval office with the biggest surplus in U.S. history. Bush has now the biggest deficit in history.

Bush cut taxes first term, and now he's facing the consequences of those "temporary" cuts. So he fixes this by cutting research funding? They're going to have to axe the hubble telescope, and all other non-military research is going to be seriously cut. This means graduate programs in computer science, the biological sciences etc. are going to be in trouble; they were already cut earlier in this administration. Look at what else is being cut. The USDA is going to be cut 9.6%, and the EPA is going down 5.6%. These are not frivolous organizations, and they are already under-funded

At the same time, military funding is going up. $419.3 billion would fund a lot of schools. Bush is also expected to ask congress for more money in order to fund his wars in Iraq (what happened to his "victory" claim about Iraq) and afghanistan.

Essentially, domestic programs that help Americans live more safely and productively are going to feel the squeeze, while Bush's pet military projects (not just the wars, these include the "mission to mars" plans and other "military" endeavors) actually get a bonus. To me this does not seem like a wise trade-off.

I really don't understand this attitude. Yes, okay, so you might be Republican and you might agree with some of Bush's policies. But I don't understand how you can say that cuts on things like education and humanitarian funding are "awesome." I could understand (though not agree with) "unfortunately necessary" or "the best plan" or something like that, but "awesome"? Come on.

I got a laugh at this, mainly because of a game called World of Warcraft. The developers made some changes to one area of the game and called them "awesome changes". The changes made that area of the game almost pointless and now the players/customers have told the developers never to use "awesome" again because their vision of awesome is actually destructive.

So from that perspective...yeah, these changes are "awesome".

I don't see why Bush has to make these programs even more underfunded. I know he was pretty much pushed through higher education and therefor has no value of how important this stuff is, but the next president who gets into office is either going to continue to make things worse or is going to have a lot of work on their hands reversing Bush's screwups.

I checked the IPs and they're from the same location. I checked veggiesrule's personal website and it's obviously RedWingsFan, a person who stirs up trouble and was banned in the past.
