Ive been having trouble finding an animal friendly deodorant that works. Tom's works for me...but only if i use it about 8 times a day. Natures Gate worked really well, but gave me a terrible rash after a month of use. Im not a particularly sweaty person, but i do have sensitive skin. Anyone know of a good deodorant? Till then im going the freegan way and using the dove samples they give out on campus.

I had the same problem. What I have been using is Liquid Rock from Kiss my Face. It is animal friendly, a bottle lasts a really long time and has been fine for my skin, which is also sensitive. It comes in a few different scents like Lavender and Patchouli and I only put it on in the morning. It is like that Rock deodorant but in a liquid form.

The crystal deodorants are unbelievable. I wish I'd discovered them years ago! I can't believe how well they work.

Mitchum deodorants aren't tested on animals and don't contain animal products. They aren't natural, of course, but they're very effective. I've tried just about every natural one out there and they just don't do it for me.

Another fan of deodorant crystals here.

I also use Mitchum, it's the only "mainstream" brand I know of that's vegan. I really need an antiperspirant, not just a deodorant.

Four months ago I was using Secret. I stopped using it because it wasn't animal friendly. The Secret lasted me about two to three weeks. One day I went to visit my old roommate who works in Whole Foods in the Whole Body section. They sell supplements, skin and body care, make up etc. I saw a crystal deodorant stick by Laffe's. That stuff is phenomenal! Not only does it control odor, it acts as a light anti-persperant (sp)? It cost about $6.00, but I bought it four months ago. I use it twice a day every day, and have barely put a dent in it. Traditional deodorants cost around $3-4 and only last two weeks. This crystal will probably last me six or seven months.
What more could you ask for? A deodorant that lasts for months, and has no harsh chemicals, and is truly animal friendly.

Hmm...I tried using a crystal, but I can't remember the brand name now, and all the packaging is gone. Anyway, it didn't really work for me. I used to use a combo of the crystal and Tom's of Maine's Honeysuckle Rose deodorant, and I was still getting funky after a few hours.
I'm using Mitchum's unscented stuff right now, and it's ok. My connundrum is this: The unscented only does the job if I have an incredibly sedative, unstimulating day. The fragrance of the scented varieties is too strong, and works like a perfume on me, but I'd much rather not smell like deodorant all day. I wish I could find something that was both an antiperspirant and deodorant, but without an overwhelming fragrance. I'm not really losing sleep over it though. But alas! I'm going to expand my rant anyway.
It seems to me that men have a nice choice of fragrances in conventional deordorants. Many of them actually smell like men's cologne. It seems as a woman, I'm stuck between choosing a baby powder fragrance (which I loathe) or one of several very soapy, flowery smells (which I dislike).

Toms works great for me. I only have to put a little on in the morning and I am good to go all day. Sorry that I could not be more of a help. I am just baffled at the amount of people who say Toms doesn't work for them.

I'll have to try Mitchum because deodorants do not work for me at all, I have to use an anti-persperant or the results really aren't pleasant.

This one might be worth a try.
The Body shop has an antiperspirant/deodorant.
