Their collective buying power is influencing not just the national marketplace but little mom and pop stores, independent groceries, clothing stores and record stores as well!
Wal-Mart is the Microsoft of retail chain stores. They're Big, They've necessitated themselves in many areas of the nation. and They're cruel and ruthless in business.
in a nutshell; Wal-Mart Sucks!

The pay is already low. When they ask their employees to clockout and work it is even more bad. Clocking out means no eligibility for Health Insurance etc., due to lesser hours. On the other hand the sales increase for the store. This can really hurt a family. It is so ironic. Walmart sells medicines and has a pharmacy, on the other hand their own employees are not given health insurance.

Don't get me started on Wal-Mart: an environmentally sensitive marshland in my province is being destroyed to make way for a new Wal-Mart very soon (in Yarmouth, NS) DESPITE community opposition.
Why do people shop @ this worker-abusing, sh*t-selling place?
My mother, trying to be frugal, bought me an inexpensive, nice-looking coat there 2 years ago. The zipper broke the 1st time I wore it, & they wouldn't take it back. And it was made w/ sweatshop labour no doubt (Korea) on top of everything else.
The quality of clothes sold @ Wal-Mart is abyssmal. My mother continues to shop there, buying items w/ weak stitching & paper-thin fabrics because it's cheap. But the monetary savings must be considered in light of how long such clothing will actually last, & the (lack of) quality.
I am proud to say that no brand of clothing, food, toiletries, cleaning products or pet food I buy is sold @ Wal-Mart. I will under *no* conditions shop there, although it's often assumed by higher-income people that Wal-Mart is doing poor people some kind of favour. That's a load of sh*t.
Why don't more people avoid this nasty chain that won't be happy until every other store is out of business?
