I emailed PETA and asked if they're planning anything to protest the new Fox reality show, Man vs Beast. the following reply was sent back to me. for anyone who doesn't know, the show pits human contestants against nonhuman animals in stupid and unusual stunts. some of the animals they're using in these stunts are elephants, giraffes, and chimps. i'm going to follow PETA's advice and send a complaint to Fox, please do the same. and if you want more info about the show go to http://www.fox.com/manvsbeast/

thanks.

Is Man vs. Beast going to be shown again? I didn't see it the first time, and it makes sense to me to have actually seen some of it before complaining to the producers. What I know now amounts to hearsay.

I didn't think it was that bad.

Of course, that is because I made $20 betting on the elephant versus the midgets.

Who knows if they plan on re-airing this same show but I would imagine it was probably fairly cheap to make and drew decent ratings. Networks love that stuff. And you know how these shows are, they typically strive to become more and more shocking.

Michael,
Shock-value is exactly what brought up Man vs. Beast today in my magazine and non fiction writing class. The prof gets so off topic, but I hear about all kinds of interesting stuff that way. The prof, who isn't a vegetarian by any means, was completely horrified and flabbergasted by the shocking content of the show.

Now is having an elephant compete against midgets in an airplane pull really that shocking? :D

I’d say: hit them where it hurts the most…… in the wallet.

For (some) TV channels, programms are a by-product from broadcasting commercials.
So: Watch who advertise just before, during and just after the “show”.
Call and mail the advertisers that you won’t buy there products if they keep advertising around these shows.

Tame,
Its simply unnecessary. What's the point? If you're going to make an elephant work, why not have it do some useful labor?

Tame

It did useful labor - it earned won $20 for the Tame Dawg. Damn. Can't a brother have a little fun watchin' some midgets in a test of strength with an elephant?
