Could you freeze the formed patties for later use? I'll have to try it and see what happens.

this looks like a very simple reciepe. I have been wanting to make my own veggie burgers but I've never tried. Has anyone tried this specific one?

I have tried this and it is very good, although I didn't use either the celery or the carrot because I didn't have those on hand. It was good anyway!

It is snowing today, and everything is closed (Rememberance Day), so I've been looking around online for recipes to make. I have everything required for these patties - and they sound awesome!
Thanks for the recipe Michael. :)

Hey, I see this got recipe got bumped! I have been secretly enjoying these things since the beginning of summer and I was meaning to write a review for them. The taste / effort ratio on these babies is out of this WORLD! Most other veggie burger recipes take days to make. I am eating these 30 minutes after I start.

Here is my modified recipe:

Ingredients:
-----------------------------------------------------
2 cups pre-cooked or canned (ONE 19 oz can) garbanzo beans (chickpeas), rinced and well drained
1 stalk celery
1 carrot
1/4 cup small onion, peeled
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
salt to taste
fresh ground pepper to taste
2 teaspoons olive oil

Strongly Recommended Tools:
-----------------------------------------------------
Wax Paper
Food Processor
Burger Maker
Vegan Barbeque (I bought one of those little portable ones for $20)

Instructions:
-----------------------------------------------------
1) Get the beans as dry as possible and mash them with a potato masher in a big bowl, set aside.
2) Throw your carrot, celery stalk, and piece of onion into a food processor and process until finely chopped (or spend half an hour manually mincing... your choice ;)
3) In a large bowl, combine the veggies, mashed beans, flour, and pepper. You should end with a lumpy batter. If you used watery veggies, you may need to add more flour. If you try making a burger and it is too sticky, add more flour.
4) Form 4-6 patties on wax paper. I strongly recommend using a burger maker so that you can "press" the burgers. You may have problems with them falling apart otherwise.
5) Brush the tops of the burgers with olive oil
6) Place burgers on your very own, fully vegan, never soiled by meat barbeque and brush the other side with oil.
7) Grill approx 5-10 minutes on one side until browned. Flip and grill for another 5 minutes.

Serve with sliced pickles, ketchup, and sprouts on toasted thin burger buns (not big bready ones). Take a bite and you may never buy premade veggie burgers again.

Note: I also made these fried in olive oil before I got my little barbeque, and they were still good but much heavier and less tasty. If you don't have all the tools, I'd recommend that you just come over to my place for these :D

I am making these burgers for the second time as I write this.
I wish everyone could see this and realize how GREAT they are!
OMG. This time around I am putting fresh mushroom (diced up small) and fresh spinach in the mix.
Yummmm, can't wait to eat 'em.

YOU ALL HAVE TO TRY THIS RECIPE!

Mmm, I made these with black-eyed peas. They were awesome. I made them again today, with the b-e-peas again, adding Italian seasonings and a few cloves of minced garlic, and made them into little balls. I fried 'em and served them over spaghetti with veggie marinara. I also sauteed the veggies before I mixed them in.
