This blows my mind  If this doesn't scare you nothing will.

Vials were reported missing from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center yesterday. They were accounted for today. The FBI released this information Wednesday, easing short-lived fears of a bioterror threat.

The vials -- about 30 of them -- contained bacteria samples that could cause bubonic or pneumonic plague, the FBI said.

The vials were kept in a secure location with no surveillance cameras . Both faculty members and cleaning staff have access to the area.

What's up with the loose irresponsible treatment of such a dangerous and potentially deadly substance????

Where's the security??? Shouldn't access to this area be under strict lock & key with camera's and everything??????

Where's the controls to protect us??? Where's that joke of an office laming titled 'Homeland Security'????

I want answers damn it!!

This really really concerns me.

Hey!! I just learned about the bubonic plague in the high middle ages in europe in my western civ. class! wow! I feel informed! In the middle ages, the bubonic plague was spread by the fleas that lived on the rats that came over from asia. After the rats would die, the fleas got transfered to people and thats how the bubonic plague happened. It is a nasty disease!!

I saw a tv programme about the plague and it was horrible. The symptoms were just unbearable, not to mention the way the poor people who caught it were treated (locked up & left to die). Obviously that was in the middle ages & it would be different now - but still horrific.

It is a really scary thought that they could go missing so easily.

I'm also starting to itch now with all the talk of fleas.

Do you remember that story of the nuclear plant that was leaking back in the 70's?

Yeah, wasn't that on Three Mile Island? Nuclear plants....there's 2 of them here in Ohio. Remember Chyernoble (I know I didn't spell that right)? I'd say those and the vial of deadly disease are 'weapons of mass destruction'.
