What do you think of this show? The guy, Evan Marriott, actually comes from an upper-middle-class background (http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/50826p-47591c.html) and makes more than $19,000. He's also worked as an underwear model (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/marriott1.html) and pro wrestler.
I'm also disappointed by Alex McLeod. I hoped that, as the host, she would be as snarky as she was on Trading Spaces, but she's on JM no more than five minutes per episode.
This show is so, so wrong but I watch it anyway. It's on after 7th Heaven, so my Monday nights are pathetic.

I've not watched it. But I think if these woman were first interested in him because they thought he had money, then they get whatever is coming to them. I really don't think he's good looking to be honest.

agreed. i do think it's awful that they're lying to all those women. but i also think it's awful that they go on a tv show to try to "win" a guy away from other women because he has cash or for the fame. you know that type of relationship would never last anyway.
why not hold a raffle, whatever name gets picked from the hat gets to marry you. come on

I like the show. They make it funny. I think most of the women go on there to be one TV in hopes of being "discovered", not to get a man. On the show they don't even seem to be very interested in him.

I agree with Thalia that most of the women are probably only on the show to be on TV and have a chance to be discovered.
I'm not terribly impressed with it, so I don't watch it. To each his/her own, I guess. *shrugs*
If I'm going to watch television (and I don't watch much) I want to see something fictional that takes me out of everyday life for awhile. The only show that is of the "reality" type (in that it features real people, rather than actors following a script) is Trading Spaces. I *heart* Trading Spaces. ^^;; And While You Were Out, also.
Someone on the radio the other morning said "The chick from the Bachelorette and the guy from Joe Millionaire should just hook up and get it over with." I agree completely. *laugh*

I watched it the first night. He seemed like a total dork. (He couldn't think of a fake middle name!)
I don't think marrying a man for his money is any worse than marrying one for his good-looks, personal charm or sense of humor...but, I doubt you're going to be happy.

Yeah, the only time the people can talk to each other is on the dates, where there are other people around often, or other times they aren't good places for deep conversation (like a foot ball game, or waterskiing), so how these people can actually get to know one another, I don't know. They never show them talking about books, movies, current events, politics, what religion they are etc. Maybe they edit that out. But I would need to be able to do that to choose.

I haven't seen the show myself, but from what I've heard, one of the premises of JM is that it's ok to lie to women.
