Does one need to trim up considerably before getting this done? Should I make any preperations? :help:

Hmmm... I don't know. For waxing I know your hair has to be a certain length. You wouldn't wanna trim it too short. You might call ahead?

If you trim, it will be less painful. :)

according to all the at home waxing things i've done your hair needs to be about 1/4 an inch.

Yes, that's what I've heard as well. You see, it's been about a month since I've last shaved. I would estimate at a little longer than 1/4 inch but definetly under 1/2 inch. Should I trim a bit shorter than that or just leave it as is?

I would let them trim it. They will know exactly how long it should be.

I'd leave it and just go for the wax. I never trim before hand.

Well, it's over. I didn't trim.
It wasn't bad at all! I'll definetly continue waxing, from now on. I think next time I'll even do a full leg wax. I'm so glad that I tried it out! :vebo:

How embarrasing was it? Sheesh, I'm self-conscious enough getting a massage, and I'm covered with a blanket!

Omg, ouchie! Where did you get it done at?

I think the first time it's kind of embarrassing, especially when you they do your butt. Then you kind of get used to it. Although I kind of do that nervous talking thing to my waxer . . .

I had it done at The Refinery (http://www.therefineryonline.com/?). I chose it because it's so close to where I live and the prices are great! It's definetly not an exclusive 'spa', but the staff was friendly and they did a great job.
There's a link to a review from citysearch.com here (http://twincities.citysearch.com/profile/11636193/minneapolis_mn/the_refinery.html?cslink=roundup_name_cust&ulink=roundup__roundupentity1-2_1__0_profile_10_1) .

Thanks Stellar! Sounds like a neat place. $30 is reasonable. So how long is this going to stay ultra smooth?

:moonpie: oooooh, I KNOW that hurt! You are brave. I just get the standard bikini waxes. My waxer told me sometimes they have "hygiene problems" and she has to ask them to go home, clean up, and come back. Ouch! Was it humiliating to spread 'em?

SallyK- You know, I'm not sure! I would estimate a week? Maybe? Possibly a bit longer? She did say that she recommends that people come back after 4 weeks as at that point the hair is usually long enough to wax again. Also, the hair will grow back finer and with repeated waxing it will grow back more sparse. So maybe the more often you get it done, the slower it seems to grow back (due to finer hair and less hair). I don't know. Either way, I'm sticking to this. I hate shaving.
ladymcquaid- No, I wasn't particularly embarassed. I just kept in mind that she had probably done that a million times. Also, I'm not ashamed or embarassed of my 'girly parts'. They are what they are and every woman on the planet has them.

Do you actually have to get on your hands on knees so that they can wax your butt? If not how else do they properly reach that area? I'm not the world's most modest person, but that makes me cringe a bit. I will say that as someone in the medical field, I am so used to seeing naked people that I literally think nothing of it. But when it's me, bending over....eek.

30$ is awesome! I pay 70$. I went to a place that charged 55$ once, but I didn't think the girl was as good asmy usual girl. It hurt alot more and there was a fair amount of hair left, so I'm stuck paying 70$.
I don't have to get on all fours to wax my butt. She has you lay on your side and pull the knee on the top up to your chest. It works just as well.

The woman I used to see at "Pink Cheeks" ;) makes you go on your hands and knees. the one I see now just makes you raise your legs a bit higher!
