I'm 18, and I've been looking for a job for a while now, and having been having much luck. I don't want to work in food service, since that is not a very vegan-friendly job. Any ideas? Thanks.

Work in a Health Food Store. :) Put your knowledge of vegan foods and nutrition to use!

Yup  .... How about Wild Oats, Whole Foods, or Trader Joes?

Most things in retail should be fine. Though you may end up selling things that aren't vegan, at least it shouldn't be quite as bad as selling burgers and steaks. Just don't work in a leather store. That smell would drive anyone crazy :p

I don't how much you're looking for dollar-wise, but I think working at a library would be awesome. Or the local HFS.

^^ I've done both. The libraries around here pay about 7-8 bucks/hour for the kids that reshelve the books.

If there's a racetrack nearby you can make very good money as a groom. I know the racing industry is bad but you can have satsfying relationships w/ the horses, stay fit & do something rather interesting as a groom.
I'm pretty anti-retail- the demand to have higher & higher sales is very hard to handle. I don't know how you feel about pushing things on people, sharing all your knowledge, & then having the client say "thanks, I'm going to go buy that at Wal-Mart where it's cheaper". That's often the reality when you work in a HFS now. I did that for almost 10 years.
Another suggestion: exotic dancing. I made so much money doing that & it was very fun.

I've tried at the natural food stores. We only have 3 in the area though. One is an independent store, not needing many employees, and the others are too far away to drive to on a regular basis.
That library idea is excellent! Thanks! I will try.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
