I need to find a good, vegan product for the following things...preferably something I can find in stores around here (since i can't buy anything online) and that doesnt cost much (i have to save all my money for college...sigh)

-leave in conditioner (so far, the ones ive found all cost $7 or more...and i cant exactly afford that all the time)
-chewing gum (why do they all have gelatin in them???)
-frizz treatment and/or hair straightener (because my hair is nappy and thick and evil)
-lip balm

Any ideas are welcome...

It's not cheap, exactly, but I've gotten vegan lip balm at the Body Shop. And there's one in every mall... so that should be easy to get.

^^ get it! I found it on sale, 2/7.50 and its lasted me over a year. It smells and tastes yummy too (not that I'm advocating eating lipgloss, but it happens :p)

k, i'm not sure if they are all completely vegan but I know these companies don't test on animals and are owned by pretty good companies.
-leave in conditioner- VO5 daily leave-in
-gum- I think wrigley's is vegan
-frizz treatment- john frieda is good (@ 10 a bottle he better be) and doesn't test on animals. Also, Garnier sleek and shine shampoo and conditioner can be as cheap as 2.50 a bottle and it really helps with frizz. The only hair straighteners I recommend are the ceramic CHI ones but they cost well over $100
-lip balm- the pots of lip gloss Charity mentioned above. The passionfruit and mango are wonderful. They aren't vegan, but the company is very eco and animal friendly. Also check bonnebell.

I found a cheap hair straightener (the device) at Shopper's Drug Mart (Canadian drug store chain) it was like 30 bucks before tax, and it works well. It just takes a while to heat up, but if you plug it in, have a morning coffee, and come back, you're good to go :) I also have a round metal brush, I use that when I blowdry so the metal will heat up and straighten as I pull it through my hair.

I also recommend going to the body shop, it's a bit pricey but sometimes there are sales. Maybe even ask for some of it as birthday presents? (what I do! lol)

For leave in conditioner, you can make some yourself! Just add some of your regular conditioner ( a tiny amount) to a spray bottle with some water and shake it up! I've done this before and it works for my thick hair.

Chewing gum- Wrigleys

Frizz Treatment- Totally Juicy products ( from Freeman) has a straightner called " Ultimate Smoothie" that's vegan and is pretty cheap -less than $5 bucks

Lip Balm - I've seen Merry Hempsters vegan lipbalm at the Newark Co-op here in DE :)
