*Why* is cold-weather running gear so expensivvvve??? Sheesh! Even off of E-Bay the cheapest I can find a coldgear turtle neck is $42 with shipping. Piff.

Society says, "Uh oh! They're running for FREE...NOT paying HEALTH CLUB MEMBERSHIP FEES!!! BETTER FIND SOMETHING TO CHARGE THEM FOR!!!" :wall:

I read to ditch cotton when running in the cold or...whatever. It's not like I'm so h4rdc0r3 about running that I can actually -run- for all that long (I'm slowly working up to a 10-minute stretch again...) so yeah. But...oh I'm just venting b/c I really want to run/exercise but I'm a puss when it comes to be cold so...

Any suggestions on *not ridiculously-priced* running gear? :dizzy:

:nigel: Cheers.

Geez, if you think that's bad, I won't even tell you how much my winter cycling gear cost me. Guess.

I'd like a bike... :hamster:

...but not the costs

(I'm a BIG fan of the smilies...is it obvious?)

:nigel: Cheers.

pseudo_vegan...have you been using cotton all along for your running gear? Has it caused you any problems/discomfort? Personally, I nearly always run in cotton layers(except for my running tights) and have never been bothered by it all that much. Sure, it gets sweaty quickly and doesn't dry very well most of the time, but I find that it's only uncomfortable to take it off, at which point a) I'm already done (if it's winter) or b) I'm running shirtless (yes, I wear a sport bra).

So...I guess I'm ultimately just asking if you've experienced discomfort with wearing cotton clothing for running. If not, I'd stick with the cotton, at least until you get up to longer periods of time for running or if you become uncomfortable in the cotton. I know some people who cotton bothers, but others don't mind at all. It may be better for your body's cooling/heating system to work, but I feel that you only need expensive running gear if cotton causes you problems.

Disclaimer: I would agree that the nice specially-formulated running clothing feels terrific, but I think that cotton does a fine job as well. :)

Polyprop bro.
(polypropylene)

One of those tops and you're sweetas.
Don't wear cotton over or under it, or else you'll lose the effect.
