..especially in the middle of summer.

My head hurts, my throat hurts and I sound like Bonnie Tyler. And to make it worse, I'm at work. Half the office is on holidays, so I couldn't really take the day off. I'm taking my echinacea but it doesn't seem to be acheiving much.

This post has little point. I'm just having a whinge. to everyone else who is feeling sick at the moment.

Sounding like Bonnie Tyler's not so bad though...kinda sexy actually. ;)

I'm sick too Shadowlee and it sucks just as much in the winter! It's -25C here so I'm curled up on my couch, with the fireplace going, wallowing in the misery of coughs and sneezes. I buckled and went to the store yesterday and dropped a whopping $42.00 on cold medications. I also picked up a bottle of rum...for medicinal purposes only! ;)

I'm getting over my second cold of the season. I bought some Robitussin cough syrup in the middle of my first cold. WORST medicine I ever tasted in my life! The directions said take 2 tablespoons and I only got about half down. I think it helped a little, though.

I was wondering if vegetarians and vegans differ greatly from omnis in how they combat colds. Do they depend a lot more on herbal and traditional (non Western) remedies, or do they suck up the Robitussin just as much as the omnis do?

I don't know. If I were to get sick, I'd eat more fruit than I normally do. I'd definitely drink a lot of herbal tea.

I do it all...Nyquil, Neo-Citrin, Buckley's cough medicine (way, way worse tasting than Robitussin but it works the best), echinacea, herbal lozenges...you name it, I take it! I'm such a wuss when it comes to colds. Oh, and don't forget Puffs with Lotion and medicinal (vegan) rum!! :elf:

i stumbled upon a very effective remedy when i was a baker for whole foods. i rarely get big-time sick but every now and then i do get a wittle snuffly or i feel the beginnings of a slight chest cold thangy...

well, anyway, while on a break i walked by the produce area and i swear that the kumquats were calling to me. yes, very weird indeed, but i listened to their call and consumed as many as i could and, by golly, next thing i knew all signs of sickness vanished.

i have used this remedy a handful of times to much success...
