Being the shoe hussy that I am, I've compiled a list of online places to buy non-leather shoes from and wanted to share. These are all companies located in the US, so if anyone would like to compile a list for other countries, please add to this thread!

Rawganique (http://www.rawganique.com/)
ebay (http://www.ebay.com) I look up 'vegan' or 'cruelty free', then click on the subheading for women's shoes
FunkeFeet (http://www.funkefeet.com/funkefeet.html) The cruelty free shoes have a cow next to them. Otherwise, they're leather.
HeartlandProducts (http://chiana.trvnet.net/~hrtlndp/)
GoodGoth (http://www.goodgoth.com)
MooShoes (http://www.mooshoes.com)
VeganEssentials (http://www.veganessentials.com)
Pangea (http://www.veganstore.com)
Zappos (http://www.zappos.com) This site has a vegetarian section
AlternativeOutfitters (http://www.alternativeoutfitters.com)
VeganUnlimited (http://www.veganunlimited.com)
ElectriqueBoutique (http://www.electriqueboutique.com) (some leather, so beware)
Otsu (http://www.veganmart.com)
TheVegetarianSite (http://www.thevegetariansite.com)
BirkenstockExpress (http://www.birkenstockexpress.com/Extras/selectstyles.cfm/topnav2.268/topnav2.230/cnav.268/id.191220041517-750551) (they have a non-leather page)
BirkenstockCentral (http://www.birkenstockcentral.com/cgi-bin/VirtualCatalog3/CatalogMgr.pl?cartID=b-3688&SearchField=category&SearchFor=veg&template=Htx/template-a.htx&hdr=Leather+Free)
(again, a non-leather page)
This (http://www.heidifleiss.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=H&Category_Code=0-3) place has ugg-style boots
Delias (http://www.delias.com/browse.do?categoryID=441) (some leather, so beware)
MyDivasCloset (http://www.mydivascloset.com/shoes.html) (may be some leather here, but most looks okay)
EarthShoes (http://www.earth.us/catalog.asp?Gender=women&cat=VEGAN&offset=0) (some leather)
EarthVegan (http://www.earthvegan.us/)
Payless (http://www.payless.com/) Of course, there is some leather here, also.
Target (http://www.target.com) Again, some leather.
FabulousFurs (http://www.fabulousfurs.com) This site has all faux fur products, but some (not all) of their shoes have suede or leather.

BTW- I want to thank all of my fellow hussies for sharing links in the hussy thread. Without you, this list wouldn't have been nearly as long. :wayne:

I just discovered that I had some of the above links set up wrong, so they should all be working now. If anyone finds one that doesn't, please let me know.

I've got a few sites to add-

This (http://www.clausette.com/shop/searchresults.asp?type=keywords&keywords=wanted&keytype=all) place has vegan mukluks. Very reasonable prices, too.

Drop Soul (http://www.dropsoul.com) has hemp, fair trade shoes & sandals. I have a pair of their sandals & I highly recommend them.

Shoes.com (http://www.shoes.com), like Zappos, has free shipping, free returns & a 110% price guarantee. Lots of leather, but lots of vegetarian shoes, too.

Onlineshoes (http://www.onlineshoes.com) also has free shipping, although again, lots of leather.

I didn't see this on any of the links, but:

http://www.bakersshoes.com - There's leather too, but there's also lots of shoes with all man made materials :)

Riddle me this... But doesn't leather fall under the heading "man made"?

Nope, leather is considered a natural fiber. Leather is a fiber naturally found in nature. The classification doesn't take processing or construction into account.

Shoe Hussies...I need your help!!

I'm getting ready to crack...3 years ago I found the most wonderful vegan Kenneth Coles. They fit like a dream, loooked pretty snazzy, and were on sale :smitten: However, since then, my delightful shoes have broken, and I have yet to find another pair quite like them in any respect. I'm a bit of a shoe snob, granted, but I'm getting ready to go buy out the leather shoe supply at Nordstroms for lack of better options!

Does anyone know a material that stretches (I have hella wide feet) like leather, is affordable (like, less than $60-70) and semi-professional?

"Nope, leather is considered a natural fiber. Leather is a fiber naturally found in nature. The classification doesn't take processing or construction into account."

Huh? Leather is not a fiber. Only fibers that come from animals are tendons and ligaments and silk.

Leather is a natural material, basicly (it has some "unnatural" materials added to it, skins get soaked in them) but it is not a fiber.

Rubber and elastic resins such as urethane stretch -- but not the way leather stretches. They bounce back toward the original shape, when the stretching pressure is removed. Leather tends to stay stretched. Rubber and elastomers are cheaper than leather. But they don't breathe (let air thru, but not water) like leather does. They are permeable to neither air nor water. I don't know what you mean by "semi-professional" in relation to a material. I know what a semi-professional athlete is, or a semi-professional musician -- but a semi professional material?

If you have very wide feet I recommend that you get shoes that are slightly longer than you need them to be, if that is what you need to do, in order to accomodate the width of your feet. Then place a piece of latex or urethane foam in front of your toes and behind your heal. You can glue it to the shoe. Use enought to take up the extra length.

soilman, that doesn't really work well (buying longer shoes, then adding inserts).

brownie, good luck. I can't find wide leather shoes to fit my feet (they're D-width) let alone non-vegan ones. When I find dress shoes that seem tolerable, I buy them. I currently have ONE pair. :(

good luck, fellow wide-footed one. And PM me or something when you find a pair/site that works for you. I have all but given up on finding dress shoes that don't scar/blister my feet and would love to find a good source for shoes that won't cripple me. :(
