Uninformed typos, or has she just given up on this? I know she used to be all about making only leather free shoes (even though she has always used cashmere, silk, wool, etc...)...I read her saying this in interviews, several times. That's sad if she has. Some...well most of the shoes on www.yoox.com and www.josephineonline.com are listed as "plastic". But surely websites selling designer clothes wouldn't list a shoe as leather if it wasn't. Anyone know anything about this??

$740 for a damn pair of boots??? :surprised They better be made of solid gold for that price!
Sorry, I don't know anything about their vegan status though.

Haha. A pair like Jimmy Choo's can get up past $1000 depending on the detailing and structure. Granted you're paying a lot for the name, but also, there is a massive difference in quality--materials, design, and style-wise from payless andor nine west and manolo blahnik and christian louboutin. I don't buy these shoes at retail because even if they're made of fabric, the footbed is still leather (in every pair I've ever looked at, at least), but I have found several unwanted but only slightly used pairs that I bought at thrift stores.

It still concerns me about stella. I bought myself one pair of her vegan shoes once, but I didn't think she made any with leather...

I really think that is just a misprint. I've been in the Stella store in L.A. several times, and they always say that all her shoes and handbags are made without leather. I've looked at a lot of her shoes, and every single pair I've seen says "suitable for vegetarians" on the bottom. I'd be really surprised if she made such a big deal out of making veggie shoes only to make some of them with leather.

Well . . . I called the store and asked . . . the woman was really nice and said it's a mistake. Stella never uses leather and it's even stamped vegan at the bottom. So that answers that;)

Stella uses fur in some of her designs though.

That's not true at all. She's even got into arguments with people she know who wear fur. She did the anti-fur campaign for PETA (you can see it online.)

I'd like to know where you saw that.
