I finally found one that I can put on my car!

The blue "Bring Home Our Troops" ribbon. Isn't this the very best one yet? I think so and I cannot wait to sport one.

That is cool. What are the other ones for then? I've seen pink and yellow ones, but I always assumed they were some kind of cancer awareness ribbon.

Get is right, it's a Ford Fiesta. :p
The other ribbons say something to the effect of, "god bless our troops" and "support our troops". They are clearly outshined by this ribbon.

That's your opinion.
(Dear readers, please keep in mind that in FR's opinion, Kerry was going to win in a landslide and the stock market was going to collapse back in July.)

I did think America would have enough sense to elect Kerry. Oh well, so much for 50 some odd percent of America having good judgement.
Tame

That would be 48%.
Remember when FR predicted that Kerry would win easily? And I had to correct him and point out the election would be close, and it was too early to put much faith in the polls?
Good times...good times...

I had a support our troops ribbon on my car, I put it on the day my cousin left for fallujah and some jackass stole it when I moved here.

Well, maybe that was a good thing as now you can just get the "bring our troops home" ribbon.

Those ribbons piss me off. Every time I see one I see a sucker who thinks they're supporting a cause but in reality is just supporting someone that profits from the misery of others.

It's true. It's like the people who put out pointless "commemorative" stuff like a plate or something after a famous person dies, and sell it for "only four easy payments of $29.95" or something like that (and the more tragic the death, the more "commemorative" junk released), or the people who sold the lance armstrong yellow bracelets on ebay for profit.
Oh well. Some people have no conscience and will do anything for money. It's the way of the world.

Your right about the profit thing. But I do like the message of the blue ribbons, so I'm going to get one. I'll probably need to order a few as I'm sure some war loving, Bush fanatic will steal it out of anger. Does anyone else find it stange that someone would get mad at wanting the troops to come home?

I think that depends. Some places that sell the ribbons offer the proceeds to charity.

Unless it's all going to charity, which I doubt, then it's just sad in my book. If people want to show their support they should donate that $4 directly to whatever cause it is they're claiming to support.

they bother me as well.
and the 9/11 tee shirts.
and the 9/11 whatever-else-we-can-put-a-flag-on-and-9/11.
sickening, profit off of other people's misery, like Micheal said.

I should add that I understand those ribbons serve a good purpose simply by increasing awareness. I just don't like the fact that people profit from them. And now those same people will be pumping out their little magnetic ribbons for every tragedy that comes along.

If you like the idea of ribbons, but don't want people to profit from them, why not just make your own?

I think I have to get one just to counteract the rampant Security Moms at my daughter's school. Yes. I am an atheist but my kid goes to school in a little pocket of Red State right here in the Bay Area which is a Christian preschool. Think I'm kidding? I took these photos of one Security Mom's white minivan yesterday in the parking lot. Aside from all the little "I support our President" stickers and W'04 stuff, check out how she's "supporting" the troops. Insanity! And yes. Your eyes do not deceive you! The side of her van actually says "Condoleeza Rice is my hero!" I took these with my phone's camera so a little furry but you get the idea. I blurred the plate out. I was just amazed, though.
I am ordering my bring 'em home sticker today. Because I support the troops so much I would rather see them home than shredded in the name of Dubya's pride.

Crikey. That's disturbing.
Even the "real blokes drive utes" and "I own a gun and vote" declarations on vehicles in Australia aren't that bad. Time for another "only in America"?

Oh my lord. Just when you think you have seen it all, something like that comes along. And all you can do is shake your head, speechless.
How many times have I done that since November 2??
Ugh.
I do like the message of those blue ribbon magnets, too, but I read on their website that they only donate "portions" of their proceeds to charity. Screw them, I'll make my own like someone else said(I forget who and am too lazy to go back and look), or try and find another place that has them and gives it all to charity if I really decide I want one.

Bring Home Our Troops?
Akward construction. I think someone probably screwed up the translation while they were being made with child labor in some offshore sweatshop.
