I wasn't quite sure if I should post this here or in the A&E forum.. so sorry in advance for any confusion this may cause.

Ok, so right now on Fox, there is a show on called Trading Moms or something like that. Don't know if any of you guys have ever seen it, but this is my first. The title of the show is pretty self explanatory, so I'll just get to my point.

A vegan family switches moms with a stereotypically 'redneck' backwoods-swamp-in-the-backyard-crocodile-eating family from Louisiana. Seems interesting, right.. so this crazy biznatch is harping on the family about animal rights and being totally snotty and militant about everything... Next scene switches to her slapping the family puppy in the stomach for peeing on the floor, then wrapping her hands around its neck while the poor tiny thing winces in pain. She then goes on to show the family "Meet Your Meat" or something along those lines.. all the while, she puts on a dramatic show, crying and lecturing while the family falls asleep during the video. Later, she goes on to tell the family she's staying with how she and her family kill spiders they find in their house.

At dinner, they are having fried crocodile or something. This is where she shares her 'vegan' philosophies with her substitute family. Goes on to say she 'doesn't have the same feelings for a crocodile as [she] does for a chicken or a vegetarian mammal, like a cow.. because a crocodile would kill [her] if it had the chace'... like a cow wouldn't, lol.... So she goes on and on saying similar things, trying in vain to justify her reason for eating some of the crocodile at dinner. By the way, the mom from Louisiana who lived with the vegan family was totally cool and very accepting and tolerant and willing to try new things. She even asked the kids to help her make a meatless, vegan version of her crocodile gumbo and said she ate completely vegan the whole time she was there.

But yeah, you get the idea.. anyone else see this episode? Ok, I understand that everyone has their own morals and values and I may not agree with everyone and vice versa... but is anyone else with me by feeling that this lady isn't the best example to put on TV to represent an already misunderstood group of people? Not that big a deal, and maybe I'm just being overly sensitive to TV (of all things, lol) but I'm astonished. Maybe this is why I should not watch so much TV... Thoughts please :shy:

This show is a topic all over these boards. And I agree veganism just took 20 steps backwards from becoming "normal"
