does anyone know if these products are ok to use? i.e. no animal testing or no animal products? My mom goat a boat load free at work and brought them home, but I haven't touched them yet..... :-/

Your Mom Goat?..that sounds so funny..it made me giggle! :)

I am not sure either,my Fiance loves Dove soap.

What I think:Most soaps/almost ALL soaps are made from cow fats,UNLESS otherwise stated.ie:gycerine soap...even then, they could have been tested unless otherwise stated.
The creamy white texture in soap is due to the fats..just like in most lipsticks...

I am currently looking for a soap..I think I will go with 'Kiss my Face' Olive Oil soap. They are a great comapny.

ok, so I called their 800 # and the guy told me-caress and lever have no animal products, the dove bodywashers and bar soaps all do, but the household products do not.....guess I won't be showering with dove! Some of the products actually have tallow :spew:

Rendering plant soap.

You know it's out there, but to get confirmation for someone at the company just makes it even more sickening.

I'm fairly certain Dove tests as well... I checked, they were my favourite soap :(

Yeah that sucks. Dove conditioner was the only conditioner that actually worked for my hair. I miss it.

There are so many great vegan options when it comes to soap that I never look at the conventional, mainstream, animal product containing soaps. Where I work, there has to be over 50 varities of soap to buy that is vegan.

I haven't found any good vegan soaps.. I'd like to know which ones are! they're probably all more expensive than cruelty soaps though, or not available in my area :(

I don't know if they are more expensive. They probably are, but not by much and it is well worth it to buy some great smelling, natural, plant derived soap. I'll happily pay extra so I don't have to wash myself with animal parts. If I buy a bar of soap, it lasts 1 month and the cost about $3.00. When I buy shower gel, it lasts for about 2 months and the cost is about $4.50. IMO, that is not a lot at all.

When it comes to bath soaps and shower gels, I prefer the kiss my face varieties. FR, do you have any recommendations for creuelty free conditioners and or shampoos? The kiss my face variety dried my hair out.

I use the JASON brand, aloe vera variety. It works well for me and smells great. For shower gel, I currently have Alba's mango variety. I switch up everytime I'm due for new soap/shampoo. I saw a new line of Nature's Gate shampoo that I want to try.

The only soap my mom ever used was Dove. Sometimes in the supermarket, I like to sniff the Dove, to remember how mama smelled. But I sure don't want to bathe with it!

I do use vegan soap for an affordable price but it's not that pleasant to wash with... and I use soap a lot so my mom wouldn't be happy buying soaps that cost more than that. oh well...

if you have a trader joes near you they sell cruelty free shampoo and conditioner for 1.99/16oz.

target also has a shampoo and conditioner modeled after herbal essences that says no animal products and not tested on animals--this is also 1.99--but i think for 12 oz.

I have used the Trader Joe bar soaps before. They are awesome and huge. That is another great option for people who do not wish to bath with processed animal parts.

No trader joes around here, but I did found some natural soups with no animal ingredients and no animal testing...for like 1.29 a bar.

That's great, Shag. That goes to show people that you can buy inexpensive vegan soap. At the very least, someone cannot use the "vegan soap is too expensive" excuse.

I am currently looking for a soap..I think I will go with 'Kiss my Face' Olive Oil soap. They are a great comapny.

I bought a bar and used it twice and my hands broke out in a rash.

But I think I'm allergic to olive oil, because it was the second olive oil soap to do that to me.

I'm still using up "bad" soap. I will probably replace with vegetable glycerine soaps from non-testing companies.

the good thing about dove soaps is that they are gentle. i haven't found any vegan soaps that specialize in being gentle. what do you guy recommend?

All of the soaps that I have used make my skin soft. I rarely, if ever need to use any lotion.

Aubrey products all the way. They are completely natural and don't have chemicals that some vegan cleansers have.

They have shower gels and bar soaps and facial skin care, too. I LOVE that company. Read the reviews!
