Hey hamsters! For the last few months life has been very hectic for me, so I haven't been hamstering regularly. :( Now that things are finally settled down, I'm starting back up again. Unfortunately, I feel like I'm starting over. I may be going on a trip next summer where I'll be hiking/climbing a very high mountain, so it's time to get my butt in gear once again!

Anyway, it feels good to be back in this thread. :) Here's my day-

brisk walk w/family- 15 minutes
running intervals on mill- 1/2 hour
stretching, 10 minutes

I'm feeling tired but happy.

Still doing my tae kwon do, had my second grading yesterday. I made a bit of a flying visit- but I think I did ok. I had to go from my day job to the grading, to helping a friend with some filming. On the way there my bus journey didn't quite work out as planned. The bus was very late- and the stop was further from the grading than I thought. (I'd got a lift there last time) So I was a half an hour walk away and already 10 minutes late!

It was dark and pouring with rain. A nice lady gave me directions and I ran, uphill all the way. Well I missed the warm up, but I think I was pretty warmed up by the time I had ran in! I was maybe 20 minutes late- and had a short wait before my grade. And as soon as I had finished- I was off again! I don't think I could have ran that far uphill a few months back, so I'm happy!

I went for a walk/run to the beach (75% walking, 25% running). I had intended to go for just 20 minutes, but it turned into 40.

ok so I learned a valuable lesson: don't take vitamins at night! I only got 4 hours of sleep last night! I'm about to fall over now!

Well don’t I feel like a slacker….I did nothing over the weekend…nothing! Yesterday I had exercise class in the morning and a 4 mile run, today exercise class. The weather is getting bad enough for me to want to stay indoors, in fact it’s snowing right now and once it snows I don’t run outside unless the walks are all clear, so I have to get used to the treadmill again. I did my 4 miles on it Mon and man was it tough, I forgot how hard it is compared to running outside…I really need to get motivated to do long runs on it…hell, 4 felt like 10. Also, not being able to run the CA marathon has taken the wind right out of my sails…I need to find some new motivation.

Flower!!!! Yay! Nice to see you back!!! Glad things are going better, so where are you going? We are still planning Yellowstone this summer…in fact I am near to making all the reservations. I’ll pm you.

Captain, great run!

Shadowlee, tired is OK, happy is even better. Great job!

catswym, the word ‘just’ is not supposed to be used by Hamsters with regards to the amount of Hamstering they have done:D 60 mins of power yoga is great, even if you had planned to do more. Great work!

808, now I am even happier that you quit smoking! Best to take it easy when the asthma is acting up. I agree with flower any chest strengthening will help to firm up the breasts…won’t make them bigger though….I’ve tried…O’ how I’ve tried. I don’t think taking vitamins at night would keep you up at night? Could be an adrenalin rush from your body recovering from your asthma? Caffeine? Sweets? Chocolate? Stress?

kat, sounds like a hectic ordeal, glad it turned out well and that you are seeing progress.

gkleinman, welcome to the Hamsters!! :hamster:

Elena, nice when you feel like doing more than you planned. Good luck on your test!

Funk, that’s right! you’re the kayak expert. I’m looking for one…mainly to paddle around on our lake…a small inland lake, but I might also use it on a nearby river…has some rapids, but not to rough. Any recommendations?

Rabid_child, great workout!

Roqeja, awww…hope you’re feeling better soon! Way to keep moving.

Anna, that’s awesome!!! Way to go!

christy, :whip:

Go Hamsters! :vebo:

uh oh. sorry bout that.

i think it was more of a residual of not doing too much over thanksgiving. i'm used to walking a lot plus workouts on top of that and that doesn't happen so much when i'm back at my mom's place.

anyway... tuesday was 3mi walking and 80min yoga and today will be 3mi walking.

wait, i missed it...why can't you do the marathon now?

I blame insomnia (and holiday crap) for falling off the wagon. I can't sleep, so I'm too tired to work out properly. If I worked out properly, I could probably sleep better. Catch 22.

And I doubt you have any reason to feel like a slacker! How much different is running on the treadmill compared to running outdoors? Do you get the same workout? Same muscle soreness, etc.?

I was looking forward to a nice 5 or 6 mile run today, but I could hardly walk without slipping on all the ice on the sidewalks, and the running path wasn't looking much clearer. I did end up walking about 3 miles through the snow anyway to get to and from places, but it's just not the same. But tomorrow is supposed to be, like, 20 degrees warmer so hopefully all the ice will melt :sunny:

Yay hamsters!!!
