changed, if anything, about you physically and/or emotionally after you went veg*n. I know for some of you you'll have to put on those thinking caps or jump in the way-back machine. The reason I ask is that I've only been vegetarian for about 6 months (I only eat cheese every once in awhile). I've noticed that my hair and nails are growing very fast, my eye's don't get as tired toward the end of the day (I work on a computer all day), I'm way less agressive, and I tend to find more things funny (I guess cause I'm more relaxed), and a few other minor things.

I'm curious, what else might I have to look forward to (or not look forward to depending on your experience)?

Well, I noticed the hair and nails thing too but mostly I didn't notice any significant changes when I went vegan because I have been vegetarian my entire life and was hardly eating much diary to begin with.
It's hard to pinpoint the changes due to veganism alone though.

Much less ill feeling after a meal. I used to always feel sick and bloated after eating.

A little more confidence in asking for what I want bc Veg*n forced me to in so many situations.

I noticed that I eat less meat, now.

I'm also more sensative to smells and tastes, although that may have to do with quitting smoking around the same time.

I'm also not expanding in areas that my friends are expanding. Sheesh. I went to a wedding a few weeks back and saw people I hadn't seen since I was 20-21'ish and even though that's only a few years ago, most of them are noticeably "more rotund". I'm not a gym rat at all, but as I lost 40 lbs. when I first went vegetarian and haven't put it back on since, I think it might have something to do with the diet.

Oh my God, you too?!

I noticed that my chronic, dibilitating gastrointestinal problems vanished.

You know, come to think of it, I never get belly aches anymore like I used to. Or heartburn for that matter. I lost 5 pounds in the beginning, but gained 8 when I quite smoking :( I wish I could loose 40 like Max. But hey, as long as I'm healthy that's what matters.

And Max, if these friends that you saw at the wedding with the amazing expanding waist lines have married since you last saw them, that would explain everything. I'm of the opinion that marriage makes you gain weight (women mostly). But my theories on that is a whole other thread!

i noticed im not as stressed anymore, like eating meat was a great burden upon my conscience that was lifted when i stopped.

i used to get headaches almost every night. bad ones. now i get them maybe once a month since going veg. i don't get stomach aches like i used to or muscle cramps now that i think of it. and i find i generally have more energy

part of it is also that i used to eat a lot of packaged junk before, and veg*nism forces me to cook more and think about what i'm actually eating.

Ok. Probably too much information but.

Less indigestion and better bowel movements.

I started having more ca$h, No more convieniance foods! big mac's were gone, dorito's all that stuff--- And I found out that I can cook and I'm good at it!--- which gets me all the ladies :P
and speakin' of ladies (other gentleman bachelors here will concur) I found my sex life picked up because ladies would want to find out if there was truth to the "vegans are sweeter" thing---(sorry if I grossed anyone out)

I used to get bronchitis every winter but now I rarely get sick, probably because being veg*n forced me to eat more vegetables and less junk food.

My immune system seems to be a lot better. I don't get sick as often and when I do, I generally fight things off faster than I used to be able to fight them off. I get a lot less digestive ailments, too. I'm eating healthier overall and I think that's due to paying attention to what I eat now.

I didn't notice any physical improvements. I still had agonizing para-nasal sinus pain, and no energy, years after stopping smoking, and changing my diet from junk to to a balanced vegan diet. However I guess if I hadn't done that, at around age 20 -- I figure that today, at age 55, I'd have heart disease, gout, cancer, and diabetes, not to mention obesity. Some of my progenitors had some of these disorders before they reached 50. I haven't had any of these yet. I have a prostate that has been diagnosed as being enlarged -- but it produces no symptoms -- unless I take antihistamines -- so I stopped taking them.

Oooh, so many of these happened to me, too.

Lifting of the weight off my conscience, better *ahem* bathroom routines, fewer respiratory illnesses (though my sinus and allergies are not gone).

I also am more sensitive to all kinds of flavors, and find too much fat in food is very overwhelming. I can get by with way less than before.

I noticed a huge weight off my conscience and I must have saved hours and hours over the years in the aisles in the supermarket that I don't have to traipse up and down or dither over what to buy.
Gut rot and indigestion virtually ceased when i went vegetarian [I'd had it bad- hospitalised one time]
Eczema and hay fever went when I went vegan and NO more food poisoning :) The last meat I ever ate [six months after I'd gone veggie] was a burger and it made me bed ridden for a week, then twice I got food poisoning from Chinese takeaway- egg fried rice. Vegan since '78 and no more stomach troubles :)

I hate large amounts of sugar now. I can't stand icing. Cake is one thing, but I scrape the icing off because that much sugar is distastful to me anymore. I never liked cotton candy, but I can imagine that now I would throw up upon being forced to consume spun sugar. Funny, though... I like oranges, pineapple, celery, brocolli, cauliflower, and other fun fruits and veggies so much more than I used to. I don't think I could have convinced myself to eat enough brocolli to like it if I hadn't gone veggie. Before that I avoided it whenever I could. I also learned how to cook it in a way that I would like it: no more steamed-to-mush for me!

I have been vegetarian since I was 12 so I can't really remember the change after going veggie - if any. My mum was always pretty health conscious (although not veggie) when I was young so I don't think I ate much red meat anyway. I know I used to have date bars instead of chocolate when I was little :)

I went vegan almost 6 months ago and I felt a lot more alert and had more energy. I've had a cold this year which I fought off pretty quickly and I've noticed a lot less mucus (sorry! I hope no one is eating or anything!) since cutting out dairy! Nothing else though really!! :D

"more sensative to smells and tastes"

Me too. Smell meat a mile away anyone?

- Better Skin
- More energy
- Haven't fallen Ill (colds or anything etc which i usually get) yet
- I fart more

I can say any changes / effects I have experienced since eating vegan have only been positive.

Matt,
Have you ever heard the story of Mary Poo? I'm sure Max Power has since he is from Jamaica.
