A stress fracture has taken me from running on the road to swimming in the pool, and my hair is taking a beating. Any vegan shampoo recommendations from swimmers?

I swim two to four times a week, and I have been doing it for more or less 18 years (with a three years off in the middle).

My recomendation for good hair after swimming are (in order of importance) 1) wear a swim cap and wear it correctly 2) don't let your body or hair dry before you shower (so don't go home to shower, do it right after you swim) and 3) use any strong Vegan shampoo. I use Dr. Bronner's regular liquid soap. Before I was vegan I would use "UltraSwim", but that just doens't work as well as doing #1 and #2.

Good luck!

There's lot of great reviews for this one.

I swam my whole life and i always found it helps to not make a point to wash your hair before going, and make sure that you get it wet in the shower, before the pool. Don't rinse it or anything (you will strip the oils) but normal water on your hair first should help. Just hold it under and until it is soaked and then don't squeeze it out. I have heard stories about conditioning lightly before swimming too.

I actually don't wash my hair after swimming if I already washed it that day, but just rinse it well and condition. Unless I am going somewhere, and then i use a tiny bit of shampoo...I think I would go with something gentle over something harsh.

I don't wash my swimsuits either. We were always told not to, I just wear them in the shower and then soak them in cold water at home and then rinse well.
