MY cat Hank has always been somewhat fussy, but lately it's insane. She hardly touches anything except Nutro Natural Choice pouches, which cost $1 a meal!!!!
She's a big (12 lb) cat, all muscle, & I don't want her to lose weight over this.
If left alone for a couple of days she *will* eat dry food (Fromm 4 Star Duck a la Veg), but she wastes so much expensive cat food. :(
I can't afford Nutro right now so I've been feeding Precise wet food, & to be honest, most of it ends up going to my not-so-fussy (& very grateful) hedgehog Haley.
Can anyone think of any way to get her eating what is perfectly good canned cat food? I am not talking about Friskies or Fancy Feast, I am talking about brands like Merrick, Precise, Active Life, Wysong & Solid Gold.
She does not eat enough of the dry food, in my opinion.
The vet dewormed her, so it's not that either.
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

try sprinkling a little bit of crushed catnip on top of the food.

i think though that if you gave her no other options, and just left the food out there for her, she'd eventually eat it rather than go hungry. stop making canned food an option. it's not healthy for her teeth anyways.

my cat used to only get canned food everyday for like 3 years, and then i decided it was going to eventually kill her so we made the switch to dry food. at first she would resist but eventually she started eating it and now it's all she eats. it IS possible! (and by the way, she is a very finnicky eater.) one 3.6 kg bag of nutro senior food lasts her about 1.5 months, and costs me about $26. really not that expensive.

Some cats do not adjust well to changes in food. You may have to mix the cheaper food w/ Nutro.

One of my cats, Sputnik, will pick out the pieces of food that he likes and leave the other stuff.

I have no help for you but I can really relate, we as a family have 4 cats, but my cat (like the one who sleeps with me and will come with me when I move out, etc.) is the fussiest cat ever! She expects to be fed fresh food round the clock whenever she wants it (she'll start yowling at 4 in the morning if she gets hungry) and will then lick the juice off the canned cat food and leave the rest. If you mix the wet and dry food we have gotten her to eat some of it but not without a fight. Our other cats will just eat whatever is on the plate and be perfectly happy about it. I think it has something to do with my kitty being the only girl, lol.

Buy a can of chicken broth and pour a little of that over the dry food. If that doesn't work, I'd try some cheap brands of dry food. They often taste better to cats (as the companies are more concerned with getting the cats addicted to their brand). Personally I'd rather my cat ate grocery store dry food than premium wet food because I worry about their gums.
