It's like a virtual hunting game except the animals are REAL. You control a gun in Texas with your mouse that's targeted over captive deer. You click, and BOOM! Sick and twisted..

Do they disable the guns when the attendant goes to get the body, or could there be an "ooops" the attendant was shot and killed or permanantly paralysed or ...?
What happens to the animals that are injured, but not killed? Are they left to die or do they get treatment until the next time they get shot?
What about connection delays? Where you "shoot" from your computer, but they gun doesn't go off until the animal has moved? Or what you see is a few seconds or longer behind what is really going on?

I can think of many more question on how this would not really be feasable, both from preventing cruelty to the deer beyond killing them and to make it a non-profit loosing venture to the site owner.

One expression does come to mind, it would be like shooting fish in a barrel.
It would take a real sick person to consider this to be hunting and a sport, since often the "point" of hunting it to put yourself against nature.

I didn't click on the link but from what you've said, I can't see what the attraction for that would be.
I can't see how it would work either.

yeah, I don't see how it would work, but it just sounds twisted. :whip:

If it was a canned hunt it would be fairly easy to set up.

(just read through it, it is a canned hunt scenario)

What worries me is opportunistic people in countries where getting around the law is much easier. For example, how about a site that promises you a similar opportunity to "Kill a Real Human!" Imagine some country in the middle east where disappointed fathers sell their disgraced daughters to be shot by psychos from around the world, from the comfort of their home or office.

Or, how about a site where you can participate in an actual torture session. With live feeds from Bolivia, China, etc., you can "assist" in an interrogation of a political prisoner! "Hector awaits your decision....you have clicked on the Cattle Prod icon, are you sure you want him to use the cattle prod?...OK..."

Then again, I don't want ebola to start in on me about my slippery slope arguments, so I'll just let it go now...

"We were looking at a beautiful white-tail buck and my friend said 'If you just had a gun for that.' "

what the heck? who even thinks like that?

"They could also have the meat processed and shipped home, or donated to animal orphanages."

And I supposing they would feed the dead animals to the ones at the animal orphanages?

This is a new low for human kind.

Well that's a given.

It would have entered my mind; not because I'm unusually creative or anything like that, but because to me it's a mind-numbing atrocity to kill ANY innocent victim, regardless of species or other criteria, in such a casual, meaningless way. As MRB said, it's a new low.

Everything occurs to me sooner or later.

I remember when the first UFC came on cable and thinking, "Some island nation somewhere is going to clean up with a fight to the death cable special." I guess I just have a tendency to explore extremes.

I don't see why hunting with a camera could be any less satisfying than hunting with a gun. You have to get close to get a good shot, you have to track the animal with a great deal of skill, and you get a nice trophy (photo) to hang on your wall. "Hey, Roy, check out the Buck I coulda killed! Bet you can't get a better picture than I did!"

Imagine hunting the same animals year after year, competing with your friends, and hurting no one.

Exactly, Rev. I know someone who likes to take close up pictures of Grizzly bears in Alaska. Many of her pictures are amazing with bears looking right at the lens. It's skillful, adventurous, couragous, and admirable.

This is the most nauseating thing I've heard in long time. My god, do some people have NO capacity for compassion... at all?? :(

There was a story about this on The Today Show this morning. Katie Couric said she thought it was "sick".

thats really dumb, i don't know why anybody would want to, all public shooting ranges are very handicap friendly because of the americans with disabilities act.

This lowers the chances of killers shooting each other, or having "accidents" with their weapons (as they'll be safe at home). Damn.
