last night i went to my first ever belly dancing class. it was so much fun, i thought id reccomend it to anyone looking for different ways to exercise, as i was! it was an hour class and just cost 5 dollars with my student id. i took it at the local sportsplex but im not a member so i really reccomend looking into a class like that, there are also Flamenco classes every monday i think would be fun... i gotta go!! bye !!

I've been taking belly dancing at my gym for 2 months, and I love it. It's a great workout, and a nice break from the routine.

I did belly dancing for a couple of years. It's so much fun, a good workout, and a really good way to feel like a total goddess!! We had women of all shapes and sizes dancing together and they all looked beautiful. Bellydancing is a really good way to love your body.

I was just thinking about getting the Bellydancing exercise DVD. Now you've definitely pushed me over the edge to go get it.

I'm pretty lucky, I have a friend who can do belly dancing classes for me and a couple other people I know :) I got a tape from the library and learned the basics, I can't wait to get more fluent.

Ooh that sounds fun. I've always thought that the only way I'm going to do aerobics is if it's some kind of dance (salsa, bellydance, etc). Step aerobics is soooo boring, plus it hurts my knees.

Just a warning for anyone with back problems - make sure you go to a class where the teacher warms up and stretches properly before you dance. Bellydancing can be quite tough on your back and legs, so you really need to stretch properly before and after.

I had one teacher who was fantastic, but later I had another one barely bothered with stretching at all and I ended up in so much pain I couldn't go back!

If you do have a good teacher who stretches properly, the combination of stretching and dancing will improve your flexibility heaps, so its well worth looking into classes if that's what you're looking for in your exercise.
