View Full Version : Losing Appetite

I have been very sick w/ a cold or flu recently, & it has just killed my appetite. Nothing appeals to me, even now that I am getting better. Today I have just had tea, cashews, mocha soymilk & a burrito. I never eat veggies & fruit anymore- they don't seem appetizing.
It's just lots of microwave food & coffee/tea these days. I don't feel like cooking @ all.
I'm not sure what to do, because I know this isn't healthy, but I just have no energy to cook or shop properly (I work 7 days a week, starting @ 5 am). So I just keep eating vegan convenience foods.
I did go to a veggie restaurant last week & ate a huge amount of delicious food: a roasted veggie/tofu grilled wrap, red lentil soup, a carob/blueberry soy smoothie, & fruit crisp w/ soy ice cream.
So I am hungry, but I am just so tired & still sick, & can't convince myself to get more involved in food creation. :(
Ideas welcome.

For now, it might be okay to keep eating the convenience foods...just pick them wisely. There are many "tv dinners", soups, etc. that are pretty nutritionally balanced.

I go through ruts like this. I think it's normal, esp. when I'm sick or depressed. After a week or two I get cravings to eat healthy again and actually want to cook again.

consider juicing and driking broth as well as tea, etc.

try naked food juices and smoothies.. frozen bananas, some soymilk, strawberries, whatever suits your fancy fruit wise in a blender.. just make sure there's some liquid in there, juice or soymilk.. you could even add ice cream/soy ice cream if you wanted.. or yogurt - adds more nutrients and protien..

btw, i was ill in august, and didn't eat much of anything for about 14 days. i would have fruit, some juice, lots of water, and that's about it. i wasn't hungry and i couldn't keep down much of anything else anyway.

Thank you all. I have been integrating soups,. fruit & tea into my diet more. I am eating more now, but not as much as usual. Still sick after 3 weeks.
