My 16-year old daughter - lifelong veggie - has been diagnosed as gluten-intolerant. Any others like that here, or have you experience? I spend time on the celiac disease websites and everyone there is a meataholic, and they've no patience for vegetarians. If anyone knows of a good VEGGIE cookbook (ovo-lacto is fine) or web group please let us know. It's hard enough to a be teen who has never eaten meat among all your rednecky friends, but no that BREAD and cookies and cakes are ruled out -- as well as all veggie burgers - it's insane!

Hi, Momma.

We had a member of EarthSave Nashville who was allergic to gluten.
We've also had inquiries from visitors who wanted gluten-free foods.

If there are WildOats stores near you, they have a printed pamphlet on gluten free foods. Just go by the store and pick one up. They used to have a listing of such products on their website. I think they took it down, though.

Yes, the celiac groups have been very hostile to vegetarianism. This seems to be on the theory of the doctors that it will be hard enough for patients to keep gluten out of their diets, so just asking them to do one thing at a time will be all the challenge that they can handle. IOW, Keep It Simple, (because patients are) Stupid.

From Wild Oats' links:

http://www.healthnotes.info/qs_db/healthnotes.cfm?contentid=1290001

http://www.healthnotes.info/qs_db/healthnotes.cfm?contentid=1185009

These links generally overview glutenfree diets/celiac disease, but if you scroll down a bit there's more related to what to avoid and what to try. I'm pretty sure there are some other glutenfree people around VeggieBoards, I'm sure some will speak up :)
