When I call my bank or credit card company and they ask me 10 questions that even I don't know the answers to to prove that it's really me calling and not someone trying to steal my identity. Identity theft sucks and has made it so hard for law abiding people to even bank or pay bills online anymore!

Today is the first time the Sun came out in TWO AND A HALF WEEKS! Since then we recieved nearly THREE FEET of snow, some rain, and it was perpetually overcast! I HATE Alberta weather! :grr: The Weather Network says the temperature should rise to 15*C next week, so at least spring is on it's way! :)

That's approximately what it is here (Santa Monica) right now. :D Except it's supposed to start raining tonight and last through tomorrow.
Looks like March ain't going out like a lamb this year... :brood:

My maths teacher saying, "Tomorrow you're missing a two-hour lesson. So you owe me two hours of maths! However, I'm not going to set you two hours of maths." everyone looks around in disbelief. "I'm going to set you four hours."
Yeah, Alan, that's reaaaally funny. I wonder how long you were planning that little speech for.

Went to buy a new filter for my air purifier because we're in the midst of yellow dust season (part of the environmental price of Chinese industrialization -- but that's another rant). Found the air purifiers without a problem, but couldn't find filters anywhere. Finally got a salesgirl's attention, summoned her over and asked where I could find filters. She directed me to the afterservice center on the first floor where I spent the next hour trying to explain what I wanted -- and not just because my Korean sucks. (The Korean term for "air filter" happens to be "air filter," so communication shouldn't have been a problem.) Finally got my bilingual boss on the phone, only to be told that my request was "not a simple one." While pretty much every discount and department store on this peninsula sells air purifiers, it's apparently unreasonable to expect them to sell replacement filters as well. No, those have to be ordered directly from the manufacturer. But the store's after-service center would be happy to help me place the order, he explained.
After another half dozen phone calls, the store finally told me I could get a replacement filter for just $89. "$89?" I asked. But the original air purifier, with filter included, cost just $150, I pointed out. How on earth could a disposable paper filter that went in it cost 60 percent of what the machine and filter cost. A few phone calls later, I was informed that $150 was the store's "discount" price on the air purifier, that if I ordered the same air purifier direct from the manufacturer, it would cost $290. Great. Proof positive that ordering through the manufacturer is a rip-off. Now, how about that $89 filter they were supposed to be helping me order? Oh, the customer service dude explained, they couldn't actually order it for me. He was just calling to make sure filters were available from the manufacturer. (Shouldn't they have checked on that before stocking the product???) He could supply me with a phone number to call and order one myself, though.
Nothing like spending an hour and a half at a customer service desk to get a phone number. ... :wall:

Not earthshattering, but there it is. I responded to a survey link that was posted on VB back in November.
AWW i think its awsome, well said anthony ^-^, i hope you find someone amazing who fits your needs and desires. I must agree i don't think i could be in any short of long term or lasting relationship with some one who wasn't vegan. Frankly i've allways thought that thinking that way was stupid or not right, but i did anyway, actualy now i'm finding out just how hard it is to have friends who don't share the same believes. I was pretty shocked an appauled that some of my friends wouldn't even sign my petition for allowing students to choose alternatives to dissection. Since then i've also become more aware of how often my beliefs become a topic to ridicule or "joke" about. It never bothered me before but lately, after hearing all kinds of stuff from strangers due to the petition to her some of my friends say similar things really hurts.
On the plus side tho, i am very glad to have someone so special too me not only become vegan, but to also ask me to spend the rest of my life with him. And i have a few very suportive, and one other vegan friend, who i love and adore.
Awsome quote Anthony :lovesign:

I know! Sometimes it's as if people think they are in court! They often debate the most trivial things, like the climate of Seattle or the latitude and longtitude of Paris.

My job. My gripe is my job. Why is it that every time I'm in a job I start out loving it and then after two-three years the novelty wears off and it becomes a drag. No matter where you go they just keep dumping on you like you have this endless ability to do more and more work. Then, your normal work has to take a back seat everytime someone higher up than you needs something done. It's like, drop everything and get their work done. :brood:

 This post could have been from me. The boss - the BIG boss - always wants some "project" done that's sometimes ridiculous and has the potential to take time away from my regular work. And it's not just me. He does that to other employees, too. This latest "project" he forced on me is something that other people do anyway, as part of THEIR regular work.
I kept saying "okay, okay, no problem", and then went right back to my regular work. Eh. He doesn't always follow up on these "projects". I've ignored this kind of thing before.

I hate it that I have to get up at 7AM for school! I have a delayed sleep phase, meaning that my body is adjusted to a 2AM-11AM sleeping schedule, not a 10PM-7AM schedule! I am always sleepy and it feels as if I am three hours jet-lagged for all of my waking hours! :grr: Thank goodness for spring break. :)
Another gripe: I type quite fast, and I am using a laptop, and my typing cursor always "teleports" to another spot! :grr: In fact, it's happening as I'm typing this right now! Does this happen to other laptop users?
Yet another gripe: I hate it when I look at the non-full list of emoticons and the emoticon that I'm looking for isn't there! This is a very minor gripe, but I thought that I just include it.
Yet ANOTHER one: I hate the extreme sunrise/sunset times here! During the winter, the sun rises at 8:48 AM and sets at 4:16PM. The lack of daylight can be very depressing.
On the contrary, the days are very long in the summer. The sun rises at 5:05 AM and sets at 10:07PM, with perpetual twilight at night. Thus, I can stay outside until 11PM without using a flashlight! :D That is a benefit of living far north!
Phew! I'm done. :dizzy:

Is it possible that your palm is brushing the touchpad? Many recent touchpads have a setting that can ostensibly reduce this. Also, if you have say a Dell Latitude with a frontloading battery, using it without a battery or travel module installed can let the case warp a bit when pressed, causing spurious touchpad events.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the advice. I have a cordless mouse for my laptop, so I disabled the touchpad. The warping is gone now! :D

Mean people. Mean people are mean. Well, maybe they're not really mean. I don't really believe people are mean. They're usually sad people with issues. So they have to make other people sad.

Y'know those women with the giant pile of groceries who are always ahead of you at the grocer? They just stand there while the casheir rings up their huge pile of stuff and then when they are told how much it'll be....THEN they go looking through their gargantuan purses for their wallets. Like you can't possibly predict that you'll need your wallet and you have to wait to be TOLD? ****!
And of course if it's a bag-your-own place they haven't started bagging yet...

I am usually already at work at 7 AM. :p
I have the same problem with my cursor and my laptop too. I will be typing away sometimes and then all of the sudden the cursor jumps to another line of the text, or the text will just randomly all delete itself.
