Category: Main Dishes - Pasta

This recipe is suitable for a: vegetarian/vegan diet.

Ingredients:
-----------------------------------------------------
1 package of Top Ramen Oriental Noodles
Dash extra-virgin olive oil
Dash soy sauce
Pinch garlic powder
Seasoning salt, to taste

Instructions:
-----------------------------------------------------
Boil the Ramen noodles for 3 minutes in 2 cups of water (instructions on pack) and discard the flavor packet. Drain the noodles thoroughly, dump into a bowl, and add the olive oil, mixing so that it coats the noodles—you should be able to move the noodles freely with no sticking. Add the soy sauce slowly because you don’t want it to overpower the dish—the noodles should have a light brown coating. Add a pinch of garlic powder and a little seasoning salt and stir thoroughly.

My kids love cooking ramen noodles. Sometimes I'll cook them in with a can of chopped tomatoes instead of the water it reccomends & add a can of peas & some chopped garlic.

I had this for lunch today, it was quite good. I've found a quicker way to cook them, though. Get the 2 cups of water and set the temperature on the stove, then immediately put the noodles in to cook. As soon as the water startes to boil, the noodles are done!

I'm trying this tonight!!! All I have left in my apt is ramen, so I think I can make this fly!

Mmmm... I love Top Ramen. would have starved many times without it.

Of course adding salt and pepper to taste is a given but I don't think I ever tried it with soy sause, garlic powder, and olive oil.. sounds delicious though

Doesnt it make it wrong for a vegan to purchase the noodles and just throw away the flavor pocket which has animal products in it? I don't want to buy anything that has animal in it to just throw away. It seems wrong to me, my money is still going to the company.

Top ramen oriental is vegan, thats why it was specified even though you don't use the flavor packet.

ah no, I cant eat them. I am a vegan and the flavor packet has milk in it. I won't buy the ramen noodles just to throw out the flavor packet, I feel like thats the same as using it.

Are you sure you looked at the right brand? Only Top ramen brand in oriental flavor is vegan, all the others have animal products in them.

I think I looked at the wrong brand.

Buy the Nissin brand Top ramen, NOT Maruchan Brand. Marcuchan brand has milk, Nissin brand doesnt.

Ooh! This sounds delish... I think I'll try it using whole wheat pasta instead of Ramen Noodles.

I stocked up on Top Ramen last week (I tend to make it when I'm, er, intoxicated) and I'm super excited to try this recipe!!

Hmm. Noodles, salt, garlic, olive oil. Sounds....in dire need of vegetables!

Why buy noodles with flavor packet? Just go to the next asia store and buy some ramen or mie noodles. It's cheaper and you won't support the animal industry at all ;)!

Even if it is animal free, it can't be very good for you (that is one scary ingredient list!).

I would love to find just ramen noodles somewhere like the previous poster says, but I have yet to come across them. I typically toss out the "poison packet" as I like to call it and just use some Miso instead.
