Alright, my mom and I just finished eating dinner (stir-fry) and I think she measured out my food wrong and I ate WAY to much. First off, she measured out 8 oz of raw broccoli, 4 oz of raw red peppers, and 4 oz raw dry white mushrooms on a weight watchers scale. I looked up some conversions because I thought measuring out dry veggies was different to say like 8 oz of liquid. I found that it says dry measurements is 8 oz = 1/2 pound. Is my thinking right? did I just eat 1 1/4 pounds of fresh veggies? Or, would the same measurements on the scale equal out to 8 oz (1 cup)? I had SO many veggies on my plate...like enough for four people and I had to eat all of them because she thought she was right. I needed 780 calories at this meal and 1 1/4 punds of veggis and the other stuff I ate was probably alot more if thats what I really ate. UGh....i'm so full. Thanks.
Cheers.

8 oz is half a pound. the 8 oz = 1 cup thing is for fluids. that does seem like a lot of food, but calorically, 1 lb (8 oz + 4 oz + 4 oz = 16 oz; one pound, not 1 1/4 :)) of veggies isn't that bad... certainly not exceeding 780 calories.

They're vegetables right? Some of them must be negative calories... oh I guess that depends on how you cook them.
They're veges, so don't worry about it. It's not as if they're laden with fat! Just good calories.

You cannot eat too many vegetables. A pound of vegetables has negligable calories and TONS of nutrients. It's GOOD to eat a pound of vegetables.

yeah, that's not bad. i've eaten more than a pound of carrots at once many times, and those are sugary for vegetables, but it still isn't that many calories.

Thanks for the support guys. The veggies were cooked in oil though so that made them alot more calorically dense. My mom and I attempted to figure out how many more calories I got from normal and we came up with 836 for the whole meal (including my rice, bread, slab of tofu, fruit leather and oil). I'm not sure if this is right, but I guess i'll have to live with it. I am so full though . Thanks again.
Cheers.

yep when it comes to veggies the more the merrier.
and anyways if you're not sure if you've eaten too much, you haven't. if you're not uncomfortably full, you're fine. and even if you are just wait it out, veggies digest quicker than say processed soy analogues, so it shouldn't take long to get "un-full"

You probably didn't over-calorify yourself, if that's what you're worried about.
The only worry here would be filling up too much on veggies, and not getting enough starchy things into your system.
Do you include snacks in this meal plan? It's awful hard to cram as many calories as you want into three meals. Three smaller meals interspersed with snacks might be a good idea. But, whatever suits you. :)

I agree with Charity; you would be best off eating three meals and at least two smaller snacks throughout the day. This would make it easier to get all of your calories in and you could even eat some more calories that way.
It was just veggies, Dosh, which don't contain a lot of calories anyway, and the oil probably wasn't as bad as you think. Just eat and be merry, my dear. Its all ok. I am glad to hear you are doing better and getting some support from Mom...keep up the good work.

Yea, I had rice, 2 bread rolls and some tofu also. I want smaller meals and snack also, but my mom said that she doesn't want to make me 6 meals a day. The doctor wants her to make all my meals until I gain the weight. We have been doing this three meal thing for quite some time now, so I am getting used to it. At first, 780 calories at one meal was SO hard, but now my stomach stretched and I can fit it all in. I should take a picture sometime of how much food is at my meal...its hilarious. Whenever my mom makes beans and rice, my whole dinner plate is stacked up. I usally have like 3-4 plates to fit all of my stuff on the table. I'm not worried about it anymore though. I just decided that if it helps me gain weight faster, then I can run in a shorter amount of time :). Thanks.
Cheers.

Methinks a pound of veggies might hold me over for a couple hours if I didn't have time to cook a proper meal. ;)
Good for you for eating healthy-sized meals, DoshKel! Are you feeling healthier about yourself?

Well Mikie...sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't. What I mean is that I will say, "Yay, i'm getting closer to the point where I can actually go outside and be normal" one minute, and the next minute I will look in the mirror and feel like I need to get the weight I gained off as fast as I can. I'm very conflicted right now :(.
Cheers.

You're making progress. If you just keep thinking positively and working at it, eventually those old stinky thoughts will go away. Just fight them! I know sometimes its 'easier said than done' - its hard work and its a fight- but you can do it. :elf: GO DOSH!!
