Let me just preface this by saying that my aunt is a VERY strange character indeed and my uncle is pretty much a tag along in her schemes. On with the story-they have a daughter named Sarah and when she was 10 they decided that they were going to become vegetarian and she was too-no ifs, ands or buts about it. She absolutely did not want to stop eating meat but my aunt and uncle told her that they wouldn't buy anything for her that contained meat and wouldn't give her money for school lunch saying they would pack it instead (my aunt is such a horrible and uncreative cook it probably would have been a block of uncooked tofu and some raw lima beans), AND-here's the kicker, they actually grounded her for a weekend because she ate a hot dog at a friend's house for lunch. After about a year they started eating meat again with a passion  and no one really metioned the way my cousin was treated in that time...what do you all think of that?

I think that's pretty messed and your cousin might just need therapy when she's older. (or now)

I feel bad for your cousin and agree that therapy in probably in her future. Flaky people like your aunt and uncle give veggies a bad name...

that's very sad. just because you have a sudden change of heart doesn't mean you should try to force your views on other people, even if they are good views. you can educate them on why you're changing and let them make an informed decision. you especially shouldn't try to force these things on young kids: in many cases the child will rebel and never go veggie on their own (which they might if you let themdecide)

That sound messed up. I think your cousin would most likely hate veggies in the future.
