Hey everyone...
I've been transitioning myself into being completely vegan, but there is one thing that I'm having trouble finding. I need a GOOD new replacement for hair gel... especially since I have curly hair and live w/ the humidity/heat of Texas. :-/
I appreciate it!

Well, just looking at Dominick's I found two. One is made by Dippity-Do, and the other is by Suave. I don't know anything about those companies, so they might do animal testing. You might want to check that out if you're concerned.
Basically, just check the ingredients for keratin (or keratin amino acids) and collagen. If the gel doesn't contain either of those, it's *probably* okay.

Suave doesn't I called them about it a few years ago...but maybe you should check just to make sure.

I know...I didn't know there was gelatin in hair gel. Is there?
I use aloe vera gel, and that definatley has no gelatin in it. Be sure to get it alcohol free, though.

I use aussie. Not tested, and no gelatin.

I used Aussie in the past, but now that they're owned by P&G..they do test. :( Citre Shine has some that is cruelty-free, but I've not used it. Origins also has some that (I think) is vegan.

I just checked http://www.aussie.com/guide.asp and it says nowhere on there that its animal tested free or cruelty free or anything about its direct ingredients or being vegan, someone fill in?

I still have some here, and ingredient wise, it's vegan. However, sometime after they were "taken over" by Procter & Gamble, the "This product not tested on Animals" label disappeared. I called them a couple of months ago, when I found out (here) that P&G owned Aussie. I got squat for answers from the phone operators re: animal testing.
