One word....YUM!

Madison and I tried this on our homebaked pizza the other night and it even passed HER taste test (she eats meat). She is terribly persnickety about veggie meat alterntives...but this one worked on pizza, sliced up, and we also put it later into a marinara sauce over pasta, which she also loved.

YUM YUM YUM....

I am now interested in trying the Tofurky Kielbasa.

I was looking for a vegan hotdog alternative over the summer, and the italian sausage was the closest thing I could find. Heated, in a bun, with ketchup = MMMMMMM.

FYI--the kielbasa isn't nearly as good.

Does anyone know how close this is to meat italian sausage? Or if it is even better? I am trying to help my omni bf decide to go completely veg (don't worry, letting him decide on his own, just giving him lots of yummy reasons. he already knows the ethical reasons, and agrees, but doesn't know if he can forego all meat.) Anyway...italian sausage is his absolute favorite. I have foreseen that this will be the last fortress to fall for his meat-eating days.

:bobo: *Is so excited she found this post. is leaving this website to search for the tofu sausage*

Oh man, those things are so good  I just had some this past weekend. The Beer Brats are yummy too!

Oooo...I saw the beer bratz, I'll have to give those a try next time we go camping as I HATE soydogs of all kinds (I've tried all kinds in fact).

And Jenni, my daughter who normally LOATHES vegetarian meat alternatives and is an omni, LOVED the italian sausage. I was quite surprised.

Does anyone know where you can buy these online? I would really love to try them, but if I go to the Turtle Island/Tofurky site, they only offer online ordering in bulk. I can't afford to spend $80 on tons of this stuff until I know we like it. Also, our freezer is not this big. Any suggestions from anyone? Would most Whole Foods have this product? The closest Whole Foods to us is about 8 hours away, but at least I would know where to buy it if we were in the Twin Cities.

I sliced them into ovals and fried them with peppers & onions, added tomato sauce and put it on an Italian roll. Good stuff :lick:

The whole foods by me doesn't sell it, which is odd because they sell tofurky roast and deli slices, but not the sausage. I really want to try it but I just can't find it.

my grocery store sells tofurky turkey kits (the big $30 ones with the gravy etc) but none of their other products, and the health food store doesn't carry any of it at all :( i have been waiting 3 years for someone to make veggie brats. now i find out they exist but i probably can't get them in canada. boooo
i used to love brats and polish/german sausages in general. must be a genetics thing ;) (i'm half german) cause i never really liked other types of sausage or most processed meats for that matter

I ADORE the Italian sausage. I went through a phase when I was just eating homemade vegan cheese and Tofurky sausage pizza. It totally hit the cheese pizza spot on my palate. The Tofurky Beer Brats are also excellent -- I love them grilled and sandwiched in hotdog buns with a touch of mustard. I haven't tried the kielbasa yet, but I've heard it's not at all like real kielbasa, so those who are missing the meat-based stuff may have to adjust their expectations.
