Once you get cellulite, can you get rid of it by toning up and/or losing weight? or are you just kinda stuck with it forever....I mean, everyone (except children) seems to have it somewhere - male/female, overweight/underweight, fit/unfit. Is this something that everyone just has that is "normal"? i guess I haven't seen too many naked people that weren't in movies (altered perception) or airbrushed in a magazine. :dizzy:

You can make it look so unobvious, but you can't really get rid of it. It' hereditary for the most part.
I watch America's Top Model, and Tyra Banks said that she has it and can't seem to get rid of it so she camoflages it somehow.
Excercising and drinking water seem to help.

I think it requires plastic surgery to get rid of it. There are a variety of methods (i.e. deep tissue massage) that can temporarily reduce the appearance of it, but overall, if you've got it, you've got it.

Yup to what rabid said. I think the best you can do is "manage" it, but to get rid of it, you'd have to go under the knife.

It's not got rid of it- but helps manage it and keeps the skin in good condition,

Even lipsuction doesn't get rid of all cellulite. You can reduce it by reducing overall body fat, but seeing as your body has to have fat on it, it likely won't completely disappear. Staying hydrated, firming the muscle beneath the cellulite, and being tan are also ways to reduce its appearance.

being tan? oh no - that's not going to happen. I am a very pale red head. Well, at least being pale helps minimize the appearence of stretchmarks...guess i am ahead there, they have blended right in with my paleness over the years...

pale is good, my aunt tans to hide her imperfections, and she now looks about 20 years older than she really is, and has a face that feels like a leather hand bag. Its very sad, because she (was) very pretty.

You could use a sunless tanning lotion.

Some of mine went away when I lost 35 pounds, but a little still remains.

I have cellulite myself, but have managed to make it a lot less visible.
Losing weight didn't work for me, so I bought a body scrub glove to exfoliate the skin and Nivea's Q10 firming lotion to firm the skin afterwards.
In the beginning I used both every other day, but now I'm down to a few times a week and the results seem to last.
Also, exercise and lots of water is good for you skin, so that helps as well.
Good luck with it! :)

i like the kind of spray on tan that gets air brushed onto you. I wanted to have a look of being a bit more cut this summer, and my husband paid for this "special" tanning treatment. It was really fun.
first, i chose the shade of darkness that i wanted to be. Then, the artist warmed up the air brush and put on a base coat. Then we talked about how i wanted to look. I wanted my deltoids to look a bit larger and my abs to look more pronounced, and she also decided that i should do my thighs in a certain way for more effect.
This is where the fun came in. she then shadowed the areas to give me a "defined" look. The difference was shocking! I looked a lot leaner, more "buff" than before, and it was a nice brown, not those weird orange shades. It lasted for 10 days. It was supposed to only last 7 assuming that i didn't shower for 24 hours (i waited 28) and i didn't use loofas or other kinds of exfoliants (which i only use once a month anyway). I went in for two half-price touch ups, and they just gave me another go of the base shade because the other areas were going to be more saturated anyway.
The reason that i did it was business. I noticed that when i was around other yoga teachers who actually tan (whether in beds or in the sun), they got more attention for being "more fit" and "leaner" and "more buff" than i was, whether or not i was actually more fit than them. In most cases, they would blantantly say "i want to do yoga with [other yoga teacher] because she looks so fantastic!" or "i want arms like hers" or whatever. once i got my special tan, i was getting more attention and more clients!
So, it was a business thing. That was a weird, emotional experience (i also considered lightening my hair a shade of lighter blonde and whitening my teeth). I don't know if i'll do it again or not, but it did work.
oh yeah, it ws $50 for the original job, and then $25 for each touch up. If i bought a 10 session package, the cost was $450. That would last me for three months and one more ten day period. Since i would only need it in the summer months really. ..and i guess i could consider it an business expense. . .perhaps it's a viable option.

i agree that pale (and natural) is good (and healthy), but it may not be great for business. hence, it's an emotional issue for me!

Zoebird... I *love* the airbrush tanning! :) I refuse to use the cancer beds, and I'm very fair-skinned, and the airbrush tanning works perfectly for me.
You're all right though about the tan making you look more "fit". I don't know why, but it just does. Something about it makes your skin look firmer and your muscles more defined.

YAY! PALE! Anyway, the most "beautiful people" have cellulite and you can try to suck it out of you, but it will only come back in a new place (yum, fat suckers. Have you even seen how they do this?! Its bloody abuse!) Just accept your cellulite, its not like it will kill you (unless it is there becase you are morbidly obese) and you dont really have to stare at it all day :D

The only place i really get cellulite is near the back of my buttocks and i found if I just stick to a regular exercise routine, and do a lot of strengthening exercises (like squats..etc..) the cellulite just disappears.
