Hi everyone, i hope it is okay to post this here!

I receive emails from a few different animal rescue orginizations from time to time in regards to animals up for adoption or with requests for help, etc etc.

the Forte Animal Rescue out of Marina Del Rey CA helped me out when i had rescued a dog from death at my local shelter. they helped point me in the right direction.

I received the following email from them regarding a rescue named Miss Minnie. They are in need of finacial donations for her serious surgery. I sent them some money, they will send a receipt, and i assure you they are reputable. I know it can seem sketchy.

I have included all messages from them (they have kept me updated.) i also attached her photo, please look at her, she's the sweetest looking girl!

If anyone feels they can help these wonderful people pay for Miss Minnie's surgery, I know they will appreciate it. Miss Minnie sounds like a little angel. (i'm gonna ask my husband if we can meet her... )

thanks and let me know if you have any further questions :)

Dear Friend,

After using her for breeding and even removed her vocal cord, Miss Minnie's owner brought her to a vet to put her to death because she has eye infections and the owner (not a guardian obviously!) didn't want to spend any money.

A vet tech there could not bare to let this sweetheart die, so he came to one of our volunteers for help. *She's barely 5 years old and otherwise a healthy dog who deserves better than what she has gone through! *We took her on, but what a bad timing — we happened to have more dogs than ever under our wing, financially and physically, but Miss Minnie has so many wonderful years to live, and we just could not turn away.

I am writing to you to ask for your help as a fellow citizen. *We are a small all-volunteer group, and we took on Miss Minnie, just like all other animals we have in the past, only because "somebody" has to help her, and there was nobody for her. *Please be one of the "somebodies" and help us help Miss Minnie. *She's in a excruciating pain, and we must get her surgery done ASAP. *Every minute passes, more pain she has to endure.

We would greatly appreciate it if you would help cover any portion of her surgery which is estimated to be over $2,600.00 (please see attached). *This is an addition to our ongoing boarding and other medical costs, so ANY amount you can grant us would be absolutely appreciated. *Please send your kind donation as follows if you may, and we will follow up with your tax contribution receipt:

Payable to:
Forte Animal Rescue

Mail to:
13428 Maxella Ave., PMB-332
Marina del Rey, CA 90292

Please write "The Miss Minnie Fund" in the memo line on your check so that the money is allocated directly towards Miss Minnie's care and treatment. *We're are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and your contributions are tax-deductible.

Miss Minnie's photo is also attached, but if it doesn't go through, you can view her at this link as well:

Please forward and cross-post as far and widely as possible, and let's not make Miss Minnie suffer the pain any longer!

We thank you so much on behalf of Miss Minnie!!!

Marie

Hi Angela!
*
Thank you for your generous donation and for your ongoing concern for Ms. Minnie.
*
She handled the surgery and came out from under anesthesia remarkablu well.
*
The surgery went very*well, too.
*
The veterinary eye surgeon did the conjuctival flap and right eye entropion and started to do the left eye entropion.....but at that point, Ms. Minnie was already under anesthesia for* two hours....so the surgeon only partially completed the left eye entropion. (Which is fine.)
*
Now it is all about the healing process and keeping Ms. Minnie comfortable during all of this.
*
It is painful and uncomfortable....but unfortunately Ms. Minnie was used to the pain of the eye perforation before, so this is nothing new to her.
*
We have medications to administer, eye drops, anitbiotics, painkillers, and sedatives every couple of hours.* So the post-operative care is pretty intense.* (I did not go to my first night of class on Tuesday so that I could stay home and take care of her.)
*
Ms. Minnie is such a brave little girl!* It almost makes me cry when I think of how much she has been through, how much pain she has endured (and still endures during the recovery*process.)**
But our little Ms. Minnie has a "joie de vivre," a "carpe diem" attitude about life.
She continues to have a VERY GOOD appetite,*enjoys to go for walks (during which she smiles from ear to ear,) loves basking in the sun, likes to play and cuddle with the other dogs in the household, and will jump at every opportunity to go for a car ride......e-collar (the lampshade looking thing that dog wear on their heads) and all!!!!!
*
A friend of ours, Ashley Paige, who is a fashion designer, knows Ms. Minnie and remarked how she has a supermodel thing going on.....she has a supermodel's figure, a super model walk and a supermodel's confidence!* (You go, girl!)*
*
It is acutally a struggle to keep her sedate, even with the sedatives.* It is not that she is a hyper dog, but that she is very smart and inquisitive and always likes to know what is going on and loves a commotion.*(The vet said that it is imperative that I keep her quiet and still for the next few week, though)* Ms. Minnie is actually very well mannered and even tempered and not yappy at all.* It is just that she likes to be a part of all the things going on...especially all social things with people and dogs!
*
I do not know when she will attend her next adoption event.* It is difficult to say.* Ms. Minnie might actually be adopted before the Best Friends Super adoption Nov 6-7.
*
And since adoption events are a little to hectic and stressful, I will probably be instructed by the vet to not bring her to anything like this for a while.
*
*
Ms. Minnie does have somewhat of a long recovery process ahead of her with an intense medication schedule, but she is a perfectly healthy dog and in a couple of months, she will be as good as new...maybe better!
*
Again, thank you for all you postive thoughts, prayers and well wishes for Ms. Minnie.
*
It must be working because she does feel loved and she has such a positive outlook on life.
*
Christine
*
P.S.* Please forward this Update on Ms. Minnie to anyone who might like to receive it.
