“Cheesy” French Bread Hors D’oeuvres by http://www.vegcooking.com

This recipe is suitable for a: vegetarian/vegan diet.


Ingredients:

2 large loaves “bake and serve” Italian bread
3 cups vegan mayonnaise
3/4 cup nondairy parmesan cheese
1 cup shredded nondairy cheddar cheese
4 tsp. fresh parsley, minced
1 medium onion, very thinly sliced
2 tsp. garlic powder


Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Slice the loaves of bread in half lengthwise. In a small bowl, mix the remaining ingredients until well blended then spread the mixture onto the open halves of bread. Bake, face up and uncovered, for 10 minutes or until browned and bubbly. Cut into bite-sized pieces and serve hot.

this is a great recipe! i have made it several times with vegan cheese and vegan parm sprinkles. i also mix in "sausage" crumbles and it is fabulous on bread as well as veggies!! try it!:bobo::D

8 servings, but 3 cups of mayo?! That's crazy. The cheeses and mayo alone are about 645 calories per person. :(

I just used a cup of mayo to make a ranch recipe that wasn't even that great (cause I botched it, not the recipe's fault). 3 cups is a bit much :)

Sounds kind of good though. Once you get past so much mayo. yikes!

i usually halve the recipe and use lowfat mayo. it makes a LOT! far more than 8 servings for us in a half recipe.
