hi people :bobo:
If you want to do something that will take a few seconds to help animals, please sign my petition to stop battery hen eggs being used in supermarket products.
Even if you think you're being a good veggie, its so hard to be one because most fresh pastas/cakes/quiches/etc, have BATTERY eggs in them. please sign this :deal: so we are free to enjoy cruelty free products :lick: and animals are free and don;t have to be prisoners in a tiny cage for their entire lives. :grr:
You can fill in your name and address if you WANT, but it is optional.
Even your one signature counts... and we dont know if we can make a difference or not until we try...

Online petitions help about as much done as an Indian tech support person provides help. (I.E. NOT VERY MUCH)

Unfortunately, the factory farms could care less what petitions say, particularly when their profits aren't flagging even remotely. If you really want to make a difference, stop buying products with eggs in them. Write letters. Petitions against battery farms mean nothing when the people signing them continue to support them financially. :(

it's so annoying that one person can hardly make a difference though.. i just want to do something.... i don't eat products with eggs in them, and we always buy free range. i was hoping to send it to supermarkets to ask them to consider changing suppliers of eggs for their own brand products, and because i work for waitrose (if you dont live in England thats a supermarket btw) they take all ideas seriously, and theyre a posh supermarket, so that might help.....arrghgh!!

If you want to "do something" then send a postcard to your lawmakers.
And I have asked you several times to stop posting this petition over and over. Make sure this time is the last. Thanks.

I signed the petition. Even though in most cases petitions don't do a lot, it only takes 30 seconds out of your life, and it could make a big difference for another being's ENTIRE life.
Quit being so selfish.

Wow, that was unnecessary.

Define how that is "selfish"?
Was Michael trying to hog all the petition action for himself? Sure, he's a pain the behind and probably mean and nasty... But not selfish. :)

It wasn't directed to any one person, to everyone in general.

The same response would apply.

This is my problem with petitions (other than the fact it's been posted about 20 times)...
I signed the petition Elvis Presley. There is no way of verifying that the person that signs it is a real person. Or that the same person isn't signing it hundreds of times using bogus names or even real names from a phone book. No person in a position of authority would take this thing seriously. Therefore, I would argue that it is selfish to waste everyone's time with something so useless when they could be using that same time to send a postcard to their lawmakers. And I would think twice about calling people selfish because they won't sign an online petition. You have no idea what any of these people do in their everyday lives.

Agreed. If it really makes you feel better about yourself to sit around signing online petitions all day, go ahead. But if you're actually considering yourself to be a nicer, more altruistic person because of it, get real. Those things are more or less the lazy man's version of activism. They take ten seconds and temporarily alleviate the guilt you might feel about not doing more.
Michael is right. Send some damn letters. Get up and make a difference.
